2a9!). CLI%ICAL VALUE OF T11E CAFFEINE TEST MEAL (Russian text) -
Oleneva V. A. Moscow - KLIN.W.D. (hloskva) 1957, 35/11 (93-97)
The Katch caffeine test 111val is a fueble and inconstatit -stimulus to gastric secre-
wm in patients with Lilcers. It induces a less considerable secretory response
than other test meals (Boad-Ewald, cablvage soup). The cabbage test meal is one
of the most convellient htimull of the '-'iW phlibe of gautric seerelion. It advquately
fulfils file rcquirements 4 a test meal, it has a aotind physiological ImNin, and the
mechanism of its activity has bven well studied. In 33 out of 50 patients examitivd,
the acidity following a caffeine meal was lower than that following a cabbage test
meal; in more than 50'i"# of patients the acidity in response to a caffeine meal was
31) U, lower than after a cabinige test meal, and in 6 cases it was lower by 50 U.
Five patienis showed anacidity after a c;Affeine tost meal and 6 had oubacidity; the
saine patients, after a cabbage test ineal, showed maintained or even inereaaed
acidity. Caffeine cannot be looked upon as an adequate stimulus of the 2nd phase of
gastric secretion. Its effect upon the gastric secretion is most probably connected
with the effect o! caffeine upon the nervous system. this is confirmed by its equal
result on parenteral and intragastric administration. The Indirect mechanism of
the effect of caffeine upon gastric secretion avA its slight and inconatant activity
do not warrant to recommend the Katch test meal as one of the essential stimuli
of gastric secretion applied in ulcerous affection. Buratovskii - Moscow

Crig Pub Sb.nauchn. tr. Ivanovsk. med. in-tap 1957, vyp. 12, 285-290
Abstract By the mithod of intra-tissuear polychromic injection, the
connections of the lymphatic systems (LS) of the rectum (R),
stomach (S) and duodenum (D) were studied on cadavers of 32
children. T110 connections of LS of all three organs were
simultaneounly discovered in 28% of casen, narticularily
in the lymph nodes cormon to these orqann. 1n 4 cases,
Nsion of 1~mph vessels was noted. The connections of 1-0)
of R and D were observed in 36% of cpses in common lymph

ABSTRACT: Modified polyorganosiloxane zoatings 192T, FG-9 (+ 12% chromic oxide or
G'Z Al ix)wder by weight), rG-35 (+ 5% U powder), FG-50 (+ 5% Al wder) and MK-4 (+

D.14-6 differential manometers in a study of optimal protection against corrosion in various
aggressive media. Housings and Beats were prepared by sandblasting, membrane blocks
were eMer untreated or etched in n1trIc-hydrochlorIc acid mixture. Sprayed parts (1 or 2

dipped parts were exposed for 10 days to sea water or nitric acid 17% concentration).
Prior pbospbating did not improve the corrosion rbsistance of Coatings. FG-9, FG-50 and
MK-4 were best in tap water, FG-9 and FG-50 were adequate in 5% sodium chlorldb at
50C and 5% solutions of nitric or hydrochloric acids, but not in suifuric acid. MK-4 pro-
tected only in dilute solutions of nItr1c acid. Adh6lon to an untreated scale surface was
poor for all coatings. Two coats of FG-9 or FG-~q provided adeqOate protection in sea
water. FG-50 was somewhat better in n1trlc acid,~nd Is recommended. 7%0 stability of
