Abstract : Out of six different varieties of Greek walnut the beat
one for cultivation proved to be the Palopapirka, whc)-,--
nuts survive storage, and not the Papirks. (Junglans
[s-ic7
_/ regia var. tenara). The masculine and feminine
blossoms of the Greek walnut mature at different times,
and therefore the varieties should be set out in large
mixed groups. In this way they will pollinate one ano-
ther with the help of the wind. Recommendations are
given on the agricultural engineering techniques used
in growing this crop. The recommendations were developed
for Czechoslovakia by the Scientific Research Institute
of Physiology of Plants.

ABSTRACT; Industrial district heating systems operating on low-grade
fuel and providing textile mills with electric power and
heat are discussed. It is stated that the installation
of back pressure turbines at the district heat and power
plant has made it possible to produce approximately 60
per cent of the required electric power by producing heat. 'jr
commerical consumption. A description of the steam heat-
ing system and of its operating conditions is presented.
A general evaluation of several systems proposed fur the
Ivanovskaya oblast' Is included.
