Abstract An investigation was made of the work function of the material
used in the cathodes of self-quenching Geiger-Mueller
counters on their action. Cathodes of zinco cadmium, cop-
per, and nickL' were investigated. It turns out that in
tuber. using cat,iodes of materials with greater work functions
(for identical geometry and identical pressure) the length
of the plateau is greater, and the slope is less than in
the case of tubes with cathodes made of materials with a
smaller work function. The number of ions in the tube

Abstract : im investigation was uadx- of the influence of the work func-
tion of electrons from the material of the cathode of self-
quenching Geiger-Mueller counters on their pararieters. Cath-~ :s
of zinc, cadmium, copper, and nickel were investigated. if
the filler and the geometry are the sane, counters with cath-
odes having a larger work function have a longer plateau and
a sLialler slope than counters with cathodes having a smaller
work function. In counters with different cathodes, for iden-
tical overvoltages, the quantity of electricity per discharge
are approximately the same. This indicates that the number
of formed ions is independent of the material of the cathode.

TEM To establish the affect of various factors (the inclination angle
of the bowl, the rim height, the rotation speed of the bowl, sto) upon the
rounding-off process, experiments were made on a large-scale continuous labora-
tory unit of 1,000 kg/day efficiency. The tests were made with a CYM3 (SUMZ)
Cu-Zn concentrate sample, containing in %: Cu 8.86, Zn 7.19, Fe 26.69, Stotal
36.1o. sSO4 o.6, SiO2 4.10, CAO 1.0. M90 1-30, A1203 1.17, C02 0-9- The Optimum
parameters for the process of rounding-off the Cu-Zn oonoontrate were estab-
lished: peripheral speed at the bowl rim of any diameter: 0.9 - 1.1 c/seo;

height of the bowl rim H - 0.115 D, where H is the rim height in meters, D is
the bowl diameter in meterei the inclination angle of the bowl is 40 - 420;
the moisture of the material prior to granulation is 9.5 - 10.5%. Changes in
the inclination angle or the rim height of the bowl entail changes in the'gra-
nulometrio oomposi%ion and density of the rounded-off lumps. Optimum duration
of ro,=dLing-off Cu-Zn-oonoontrate is 10 - 12 min. It was sat-blished by oalou-
lations that the material weight on the bowl in operational condition will be
2,600 kg for a granulator of 4.2 m in diameter.

Abstract Critical temperature, density and viscosity of solutions
of LiCl and its solubility in methyl, ethyl, n-propyl and
n-butyl alcohols are examined. It is shown that in cri-
tical state can be solutions of solid salts critical tem-
perature of which exceeds many times critical temperature
of the solvent. And the higher is critical temperature
of 6olvent the narrower is the concentration region of
neii-saturated solutions existing in critical state.

by a finite one. An example of the use of the obtained results to determine the
