electroslag revelting are melted by the usual process in electric are furnaces.
3. Single vacuum remelting of consumable electrodes melted by the usual process
in electric arc furnaces. Investigations of the quality of the metal melted by
these methods showed that the metal melted by the first mothod is the purest with
respect to noirmtallic inclusions. Steel made by the second method is contaminat-
ed with point nitride inclusions, for the e1imination of which a double vacuum

ABSTRACTS Diesel distillates of Dolina and Bitki petroleum were dewaxed by three
mothodal a 1(rw-tomperature process involving the use of selective solverete (mixtures
of acetone and benzene and also methyl ethyl ketone and benzens)v a low-tamporature
process without solvents at a cooling temperature down to -20cCj and trea:Lmont with
crystalline carbamide. The two types of petroleum were found to be very similar in
physicochemical properties and content of diesel fractions. The 240-3500C fraction isi,
best suited for producing low-melting paraffin waxes to be oxidized to synthetic fattylt
alcohols. Dowaxing with selective solventep aimed at producing low-melting waxes,
should be carried out in two stagesp i. e.p dewaxing of diesel distillates and dooil-
ing of the wax cake. The optimum solvent is a mixture of 80% acetone andi 20% benzene.,
