Abstract: By heating a mixture of CH OH P 5 and ethyl ester of ma-

leic acid, and distilling e reaction product in vacuo, pre-
paration was effected, in a single step, of valathion (CH 0)2
P(S)SCH(CODC2H5)CH2cO-OC2H5 M, of higher purity and wi;2
a better yield than on carrying out the synthesis in 2 steps.
Field tests of I prepared according to the recommend d method
have confirmed ~Ebe high effectiveness of I. Compare with
