AB,';rRACTi The article presents an analytical generalization of the
vertical motion of fuel particles, which conserve the con-
otancy of volume duriiig burning in a stream and in a free
Jet. ""he process of votion is described by a differential
equation (13). The lines of motion of the fuel particles
in the stream are determined by the stream velocity as a
function of coordinates w a w (z) - const. Characteristics
of the particles' motion in a free jet are determined on the
basis of Abramovich'a equation (38) of the mean velocity of
a gas stream. The solution of the given problem was achieved
on the basis of a dependence of the specific velocity of
fuel particles on the changeof theirmass (equation 19). In
order to linearize this equation in a case of motion of

TEM Tha author investigates the combustion process of pulverized 6halo
In experimental vertical combustlun chambers (diameter 210 mm ). Tho
concentration of oxygen and carbon dioxide of the dry chamber gaeQs and
the temperature of the latter are unequal in the cross sect.on of the
chamber up to a certain distance from the burner. In this zone the
concentration of oxygen at the axis of the chamber is greater than at the
periphery. The concentration, however, of carbon dioxide and the
temperature at the periphery are greater than in the neighborhood (-,f +hG
axis. Those nonuniformities appear by a recirculation of the chamber
gasea and by the nonuniformitieo of the velocities in the cross section
of the chamber (reverse movements, mixture '). The recirculation is the
moot essential stabilizing factor of the combustion process. For a givori
type of turners the recirculation depends on the diameter of the burner
and decreajaQs with an increaaii.r d,.ameter. A further .3tabilia'.ng fa,-tor
