Leningr. politekhn. 1-n-t, 1957, Nr 12, PP 103-1.07 ABSTRACT: By memmi of tne Laplace -transf ormatiop the problem of the vibrations of a rectilinear tube, wherein an evenly distributed liquid flows, is solved. The solution nf the problem is reduced to the Integration of a differ- ential equation of tne fourth order with constant coefficients. Four linear indeDe-ndent solutions of the fundamental equation are obtained, and an example is solved for the case that a concentrated invariable moment is suddenly applied to the tube. The formulae for the displacements and the frequenoy-equations are obtained. blit the roots of the latter are not given. G.S. Migirenko Card 1/1 MINDY, V.A.: MVOZVANSKIT, A.A. The author studies the problem of the magnitude of these changes. He considers a rough surface as a realization of a homogeneous statistically anisotropic random field with normal distribution law and assumes the material of the elastic body to be isotropic. Using a spectral representation, the author is able to determine the first and second order statistical characteristics of the intensity of tangent atresses. Consider an object whose state is determined by the elements of the column matrix t(t) and whose law of motion is a system of linear differential equations t a A 9-,# Bu * CF, where A is a square matrix and B and C are rectangular with elements not depending on tims, u(t) and F(t) are column matrices of controls and exterior effects respectively. 71te author assume that the region of controls is a co Fax: closed, bounded polyhedron situated in r-dimensional space with coordinates u , u where Ul are elenents of the matrix of controls, In the book by Pontryagin, Boltyanskiy, Gamkrelidze and Mishchanko (Matematicheakaya teoriya optimallny*kh protsessov. F12matgiz, 1961), the authors solve,, in particular, the problem of investipating the control u which transfers the representing point from the given ,po , - F- o t:) the origin of the phase space e in minimal tim. It is shown ,mitin r L 18-:05-63 ACCESSION NR: AP3003240 that this problem has a solution under som restrictions on F if A,,B,,C,,F are precisely known* The author assumeB that the properties of the object (A,,BC) and the exterior forces F am random and that only their statistical characteristics are known Ln advance. In this case one can construct an optinal control for the object's expectation properties by assuming the exterior forces equal to their mathematical expectation, However, the realization of ouch a control for an objeot having random properties and subject to random exterior effbats does not guarantato that the representing point will hit at the and of the transfer process precisely at the origin. 7bis is complicated by the fact that random errors are possible with realization of the optimal control, This article deals with computation of the variation of the phase coordinates at the end of the transfer process and the minimization of this variation at the expenne of correction of the control. I-CCESSION ha: AP4040570 s/oo4o/64/028/003/0401/008 AUTHOR: Pallmov, V. A. (Leningrad) TITLE: Basic equations in t1ho theory of nonsyrmietric elasticity SGURLE: Prikladnaya matomatika i meldiamtca, v. 28, no. 3, 1964, 401-408 TOPIC TAGS: elasticity theory, nonsy7mietric elasticity, acoustic wave propagation, discrete structure, crystal, polycrystalline metal, vector field, solid medium ABSTRACT: For explaining certain regularities in the proplagation of short acoustical waves in crystals, polycrystalline metals, and high polymers, it is necessary to consider the discrete nature of the structure of the material, con- sisting of separate particlas connected by complex forces of interacMn. The author proposes an approach from the point of view of solid media for studying the behavior of a substance with a discrete structure. In order to eliminate U-io differences between classical solid media and a discrete syston of particles, he provides the solid media with several properties which are apparently unusual. He isolates a certain volume V of tho, mdium, which he bounds by a surface S. At each point of the surface 3, the influence of the portion of the medium outside S on thra part in S is produced by the vector of stresses T_ and the vector of pairs C.,d 113 n I .Acaw= NR: Apho4o570 of Btresses )A, & At each point of the volume, three-dimensional forces and three- dimensional moments with intensities K and c respectively are produced. The author finds conditions under which the volume of the medium is in equilibrium, and he derives the desired equations of equilibrium. The relation between the kinematic variables u and I and the force variables 7 and ~i is found by using the principle of vlkual perturbations. The author studies small deformations of an isotropic medium with mirror symmetry of the properties, and lie finds the specific potential energy of the medium. A law of small elastic deformations equivalent to the usual Hook's law is obtained. The derived system of equations forms a complete system of equations of linear elasticity theory considering rotar7 interaction of particles. ..-For certain particular values of the parameter cw, the mithor also obtains the classical equations of elast--*City theory and the equations of the theory of pairs of stresses. He obtains equations with respect to perturbations ILL and rotations 6 analogous to tho Lame" equations. He studies propagation of waves in an unbound- ed cally i otzrop~ c elaatic medium and gets agreement with the classical -65u.lts contradict those of R. D. .:indlin and H. F.
