Abstracts Zr:.nglish articlej It was established earlier that the stomach wall
contracts without interruption and that there are slow polyphase changes
in the electrogestromyogram corresponding to these low-amplitude contractions
of the gastric wall. 'When these rhythmic contractions increase their amplitude,
i.e., when they become stronger, there are groups of spike potentials appearing
in the electrogastromyogram. Experiments with 15 dogs were made for the
purpose of establishing the relationship between the appearance of spike
potentials and the intensity of the contraction wave. Strain-gauges were used
to record the contractions of 'he gastric wall. The article presents the
description of experimental procedures, summarizes the results, compares the new
findings with those of other authors, and discusses the possible connections
between the motor and bioelectric activities of the stomach. There are

Pickling Druras.

Abstract It taming process is significantly speeded up if the pig
stock has been vegetable-tanned in pickling drums. The
leather obtained possesses u lighter and a finer outer
side, and is more pliable in belting than those which
have been tamed without salt. This method makes it pos-
sible to use a native tanning agont - sumc, which other-
wise could not be used, due to the possibility of its
fermentive decomposition. The tanning occurs at a salt
concentration of 25-509,/1j and PH Of 3.2 - 3.8.
