TOM The paper gives the organization of a two-address computer in which
both addresses are the arguments of an operation, since the result of every ope-
ration is automatically placed in a definite order in the memory storage of the
computer without program participation. Inasmuch as the.results of the opera-
tions in general are located in addresses unknown to the programmer, being used
as arguments in the program instead of every machine address of these results,
one writes the symbol * (asterisk). For the selection from the memory storage
of the required argument to be unambiguous it is required that the ordinal number
of that symbol * (counting from the beginning of the program) be equal to the
number of the command whose result one wishes to utilize in that operation as

Idiscussed, particularly notes on prevention of evaporation loss, on the magnitude of
such losses on the ship "Karpaty," and on recommended measures to decrease such
losses. Pressure-adjustable valves whose operation is recommended do not exigt on
the ship and manipulation of safety valves is prohibited by safety regulations.
Dailv variations of sea and water temperatures do not cause the opening of safety
valves and evaporation loss from napths loads, as shown by calculating tile corre-
sponding vapor pressures and air pressure. The pressure increase in tanks, caused
bv temperature differences in the port of loading and during the travel, is the cause

stitution of arguments in the evaluation of composite functions
with a computer using addressless input. A composite function is re-

TEXT: In connection with the design of a serial address-less
computer with its memory on a magnetic drum (Rzh. Yat. 1962, 0371),
the auestion of the optimal choice of the length of an elementary
formula is considered. 'I"he requirement must be met that the w&.-ting time
for the transmission of the elementary formula from the drum to the
working memory consisting of a-register be minimal. It is said that the
minimal waiting time is obtained if tho relation k - 12n is fulfilled,
where k is the number of words which can be accommodated by the wor4ing
memory, and n is the number of words on one band of the drum.

TEXT: Calculation of the value of a function from a given value of its
arguments requires an indication of the order of the operations, the deter-
mination of the arguments, and the localization of partial results. In
normal bracket notation this information is not expressed accurately
enough. A version of bracketless notation is proposed which is simple
enough for technical realization. In multiple calculation of the value of
a function from different values of its arguments, the system must retain
the symbols of the arguments whose magnitude varies.. In particular, a
formula-can be registered on paper tape so that the magnitude of each
argument is written in the square corresponding to this argument. If the

TEXTt The small computer B-100 which is iatended for oaSinoar
culculations is described. The oDerating principle of the computer was
worked out at the Institute for L'athematics of the Polish Academy of
Sciences; a simplified version was built by tho Warsaw Technical
University. The machine works in the decimal system. A storage unit on a
majnatic drum is used. The logical chains are built with vacuum tubes.
A standard teletype is used as the outlet. The data are fed into the
computer on a punched tape at the rate of 30 symbols a second. An arith-
=&tic operation takes place during one revolution of tho drum, i.e., in
x10 --nd. A, mathematical formula once fed into the machine can be used

ABSTRACT: The author discusses some of the recent background in the development of
rocket fuels and propellants, tracing the more important historical stages in the
quest for more reliable and effective solid and liquid, chemical and nonchemical
i combustion agents. A cursory explanation of the combustion mechanism of solid and
liquid rocil-et fuels is given and both types are analyzed with a view to their re-
spective adva.-,tages and disadvantages. T'he principle of operation of a typical solid-
fuel rocket engine is described on the basis of a simplified block diagram. Tile con-
cept of the degressive, natural, and progreat;ing combustion characteristLic i!j ex-
plained and modern experimentation with N02 resin and pyrotechnical propellants is
discu9sed. Basic mathematical formulas for the more important rocket fuel energy
factors (thrust, ejection velocity, rate of combustion, etc.) are ouLlined, with
special attention to such gases as H2, 1120, CO, N2, S02, and CO'). A second diagram
