For example, the reliability of an auto- ,Ynd the moon and return to the matic control siystem of a ship designed for flight aro~ earth is 22%. However) with the participation of Mar. It Increasos to 70% and when there Is a capability for eliminating damage It Increases to 93%. Correct evaluatiol of the "man-Machine" system Is possible only by taking Into account the paycho- physiological characteristics of the cosmonaut and the technical capabilitiea of the automatic apparatus. In a discussion of the time when a manned flight to the moon may take place the author notes the seriousness of the still. unsolved problems, such as takeoff from the lunar surface. He suggests that the most feasible approach much be the American proposal for the main ship to assume a lunar satellite orbit, ard 1/2 L 07.2.4c-511` ACC NRt A117001039 With the cosmonaut descending to the surface In a space "taxi" iwd then returning to the mother ship.
