Making of Large Castings

The book includes articles on the most interesting research
work concerning improvement of the quality of castings and
economy of labor. The results of an investigation of the causes
of cracks in castings weighing up to 80 tons are presented; the
nature of stone-like fractures afid methods for combating them
are described; experience in hardening molds and cores is
analyzed. Also described is oxygen heating-up of cast iron in
the spout of a cupola furnace. No personalities are mentioned.
There are no references.

AWFACT: In this investigation the author attempted (on the basis of
one of her previous papers, Ref 3) to produce an emission
layer with two independent domains of sensitization, The In
dependent sensitization for different ranges of th4~ spectrum
permitted to produce new photographic layers of a mono-la-fere,.4

of them being sensitized for red and the other for green

citrus plants). Introduction of Actinomycete 531 into the soil was found to
prevent the tobacco disease caused by Thielaviopis basicols.
