ABSTRACT: Over the winter of 1957/58 the quality of new trainees was
investigated in various factories, combines, and trusts.
Educational programs were seferely altered and some were cut
from 150 to 50 hours. A number of pupils proved to be quite
incompetent, and some of the instructors were as bad.
Results showed that the Belorussian system of training
qualified workers by the 3-6 months individual-brigade method
should not to be followed; new workers in specialized branches,
demanding theoretical training, should be taught at 'tstationary"
schools. Only 3 out of 16 motor-worker school graduates in
1956-57 could be used - the rest had to be sent back as in-
adequate. The sections concerned were examined, and here the

TM: When a moving metal band is heated in the cross magnetic field the
heating conditions at the edges of the band and in its middle are not the same.
The theory of heating the band in the cross magnetic field is considered on
condition that the width of the groove ot the magneto conductor is negligibLe
compared with the pitch of the Inductor (%-/~ - 0). The temperature distribution
over the width of the band is studied In detail. On the basin of' a comparison of
the theoretical temperature distribution with the experimental data the conclu-
sion is drawn that a direct application of the cross magnetic field to the ur.1-
form heating of the band is Impossible, and consequently it Is impossible to use
the cross magnetic field for technological processes where precise temperature
