Abstract: Destroyed plantings of lu e
mountain forests of the Crimea constitute 42% of
the forest reserve. Here are verdure plantings
of the downy and the winter oaks, plantings of the
Crimea pine, reorganized beech and beech-hornbeam
plantings, and plantings of the arborescent juni-
per. Theverdure plantings of the oak have a den-
sitY Of 0-3-0.5, and the introduction into thew. of
pine,by partial cultures is recommended. In the

Abst : Depending on the accepted scales of constructing landscape
groupings, different types of cultivations are created"
small-landscaping (0-05 to 0.25 hectares) and large-lands-
caping (over 0.25 hectares) types. With this, on the to-
tal natural background separate decorative plantings are
permitted, and paths are planted in an alley form. Types
of forest cultivation may be utilized for exploiting the
green zone, such as are comnon to other forests in given

environments, enriching the usual species by exotic
plants. The types of landscape groupings and their spe-
cies composition for spreading near cities of the Ukraine
are forest types: groves of leafy trees, leafy young
trees, young pine trees, pine groves. Most favorable are
forest growth environments of leafy groves of trees and
leafy young trees; use can be made in these of a wide as-
sortment of deciduous and coniferous specimens; a list
is introduced of suitable types of landscaping groups,
existing in park woods and parks of Ukrainian SSR.
Young pine groves are unsuitable for the majority of
leafy trees. In these pure pine and oak plantings should
be used; also birch and poplar plantings on fresh and
hymid soils. In pine grove enviro=ents only pines should
utilized; birch on fresh and hymid soils and poplar on
humid soils. Detailed instructions are given on projected
types of forest cultivation to create various plantings
of forest parks and exploitable parts of the green zone.

In studies on Tilletia species in Hungary [cf. R.A.M., 29, p. 92] no emeatial
difference could.be detected in,the temperature relations-of T. ft~dlda 1100. cit.]

and most favourable for bunt development in Hungary. Theoptimumsoi.1humidity
(in brown clay soil containing some Kiscell . itimus) for spore germination of T.
Jodi& was 59 per cent. and for T. fritic-oideT 71-2 to 84 per cent. There is a definite
connexion between the distribution of these fungi and the quantity of rainfall in
Hungary. The incidence of T.Joclida is over 95 per cent. iitpgions with an annual
rainfall below 600 mm., wbile. that of T. frilicqides is negli6ble. The latter, how-
I ever, causes severe and large-scale daniage in rejrigns where rainfall exceeds 650 mm.
