Abstract : Starting with the premise that the problems of visibility
of road signals are insufficiently well developed, the
authors have undertaken an extensive investigation of the
influence of such factors, as the shape of the signs, the
combination of colors of the image on the sign and of the

Title: Concerning the Problem of the Connection Between the Sight and
Hearing Analyzers

Abstract: It is shown that just as a sound stimulus increases -the thr-ash.-~ld
of the light sensitivity of the eye during the process of dark
adaptation, so does the conditional stimulus act in exactly the
same manner. Such stimuli were the putting on earmuffs, bear:!Mg
against the shoulder of the subject, and the rhythm of stimulatfan
itselt. The latter indicates that a reflex with respect to time
took place.

February 1957 on V.G. Nesterov's parThlet: "Some problems
of the contemporary forest science and its applicatiins to
the practice of forestry". The views of V.G. Nesterov are
aescribed briefly. They show the necessity) in his opi-
nion, of freeing G.F. Morozov's. theory from the elements
of social darvinism.
The theory of normal plantinL; is rejected, as beinG "far-
fetched". Kraft's classification is substituted by a new
one of his own (according to height and development),

constructed on the basis of T.D. Lysenko's theory on
Cxain crops, also on the necessity of utilizing a complex
classification of forest types (according to their compo-

of the soil and of live cover) and so on. In the practical
part of the discussion, sorie scientists (N.P. Anuchin, A.I.
,^,khromcnko, A.B. Zhukov and others) indicated on the con-
fusion and insufficient scientific bases of V.G. Neste-
rov's theses.
It was indicated that the problems posed by hin are not
basle to the development of the science of forestry and
that some of his opinions contradict the universally
adopted theses of the science of forestry.
It was indicated that the exclusion of sections on trees
classification and on methods of thinning from V.G. Neste-
rov's textbooks is not sufficiently based and is not pro-
ven practically.

ABSTRACT: Technical School Nr 10 in the Lugansk Oblast' is a large,
diversified educational institution of the Labor Reserves
with 952 students. The terms of education vary from 10
months to 2 years. For practical training the school is
attached to the Luganskiy teplovozostroitel~nyy zavod imeni
Oktyabriskoy revolyutsii (Lugansk Diesel Locomotive Building
Plant imeni Oktyabrlskaya revolyutsiya). After a lengthy
training in the school's workshops, the metal worker and
the machine-operator groups are sent to the plant for prac-
tical training. The author describes in detail what pre-
parations are made to let the students have the proper work

and brain (meningitis, encephalitis, encephalomyelitis) and in all kinds
of pain Oxygen was Inhalated from a tube in the mouth and the patient
had to expire through the nose; this treatment was given once or twice
daily. The explanation of these favourable results probably lies in the
activation of the leucocytes and weakening of noxae by the oxygen.
