ABSTRACT: The graft polymerization of certain vinyl monomers on amber, a natural
.trimeric polymer containing small quantities of soluble fractions was studied.
Copolymers of amber with M4A and styrene were prepared and investigated. Vinyl
acetate, acrylonitrile, and vinyl chloride do not form copolymers with amber under
the conditions studied. Graft copolymers were prepared by the initiation of poly-
merization of the monomer by macro radicals "formed during the decomposition ofthe
peroxide groups of amber oxidized by atmospheric oxygen. Variousmechanical, and.
electrical properties of the graft copolymers of methyl methaerylate and amber
and styrene and amber are presented.. The authors thank L. A. Ig and his
laboratory co-workers for determination of the thermomechanical-and electrical 1,5-

Abstract: The survey presents some results of investigations of
chemIcal reactions at low temperatureb, close to the boiling
point of liquid nitrogen, obtained at Moscow State University
at the;Department of Chemical Kinetics, headed-by N...N. Semenovo
In the course of these investigations, the phenomenon of ex-pTo--
sive spontaneous occurrence of a number of chemical reactions
at temperatures close to the boiling point of liquid,ni-trogen
was discovered, the possibility of-.ohain reactionBlin the solid
phase at this temperature was demonstrated, the i&luence of
phase transitions upon the chemical processes was revealed, and
a special role ofunstable donor-aeoeptor molecular complexes ard
their associates in the acoomplishmerit of low-temperature
chemical reaetions was detected.- The survey consists of three

ABSTRACT: The Tsentrallnoye proyektno-konstruktorskoye byuro Nr 3
Ministerstva morskogo flota (Central and Design
Office Nr 3 of the Mercantile Marine Ministry) has devel-
oped the PTS-1 loader for the stowing of bulk loads. The
loader consists of the following parts: a lower platform
with a rotating upper platform on which is mounted the hop-
per with pedestal; under the hopper are located the moving
devices, consisting of the feeding and the dump-conveyers,
The loader is operated by remote control from a portable
control panel. Technical data: weight of the loader -
7.4 tons; holding capacity of the hopper - 10 cu m; motive
power - 2 electromotors of 9 kw; loading efficiency - 350
