ABSTRACT: llie relations between the tonus of coronary blood vessels and
those of vessels of the large circle of blood circulation were studied on
dop anesthetized with nitrous oxide. Ilie vascular flow resistance was
measured In order to take Into account the tonus of nrterioles as well as
of mijor blood vessels. Ilicre was an inverse relation between the flow
resistance in the coronary cycle and that in the peripheral part of the
large cycle -- i.e* r the tonus of coronary vessels was low while that of
'vessels in the large cycle was high and vice versa. As indicated by the 02
.requirements of the myocardium of the left ventriclet there was no uniform
;correlation between the load on the myocardium and the tonus of coronary
vessels, However, there was a direct relation between the index of efficiency

Abstracts A brief survey was maae of publications on the -study of.tho non-
chloride method of glycerin synthesis. The basic material for this mzthod,
is acrolein -- a product ofpstroleum refining.,.-Tho moot promising method
is the process of catalytic oxidation of propylene to aarojej A coppar-,
oxide catalyst on carborundum was used for.the reactiono At tomperaturos
of 300-4000C and pressures up to 10 atmospheres the acrolein yield we-7
of the reacted propylene. Process of obtaining glycerin from acrolain
through allylalcohol is simple and rblativ~ely easily accomplished in In-
dustry. The most difficult stage of the process is,tho reduction of aoro-,

ABSTRACT: The cementing clays found in Mn ores are of the illite-
beidellite variety. They contain Ca and Mg cations and therefore
fall into the category of the water-resistant, water-repellant
type and are highly plastic when moist. Changes in the concen-
tration of the dispergators (water glass, caustic soda, and sod-
ium carbonate) in an aqueous medium was accompanied by a
change in the number of clayey particles. It is shown experi-
mentally that the rate at which clays soak up water may be
raised by 25% when dispergators equal to 0. 1-0.2% of the weight
of the initial ore are used. A direct proportion is observed be-
tween the deformation of the clays and the washability of the
ores, i.e., the deeper the cone impression (conical die test),
the higher the degree to which the clay could be washed out. The

sharply as their moisture content drops to 15-20% (of the dry mass). Prior
soaking in water also makes for more intensive washing. Heating of the
water sharply increases the washability of clays. When heated by 300C (from
10 to 400), the washing-out rate doubles.

ABSTRACT: The extent of telemechanics in rural power systems and their connect-
ing links, such as separate wire lines, high-voltage lines, and VHIF radio chan-
nels, are considered. A radial system of high-frequency links is recognized
as the most expedient system. The following methods of joint utilization of an
H-F channel and equipment are described and compared: (1) linking the dis-
patching station with each controlled station by means of an individual stat`cn;
(2) combining two separate radial communication systems - one for telephone
and telemetering, and the other for remote control and remote signaling;
(3) using one radial system with one common dispatcher's station; 1.4) priority

sending of remote signals from any controlled station; (5) linking a radial Sys-
tem toward the controlled station only, with independent channels and sepazate
frequencies directed from each controlled station to the dispatcher station.
The third method is considered as the simplest, and that insuring the maxim-urn
saving on 1-1-F equipment and the frequency band used. The fourth method Pro-
vides greater operability than the third method. Results of experiments with
existing radio carrier telephone systems are presented. A way to further de-
velopments and investigations is indicated.

ABSTRACT: These results of experimental studies of gas-pipeline electric
parameters are reported: (1) The gas pipeline used as an electric channel'~s highly
reliable and stable, but has poor electric parameters; (2) Gas-pipeline attenuation
varies from 0. 07 to 2 nep/km, which determines an average transmission range of 1
10-20 km for the infrasonic frequency band; (3) Pipeline characteristic impedance
varies within 0. 03-1. 5 ohms; input impedance of the pipeline-ground circuit is
