ABSTRACT: The EPR spectrum of the cyanoisopropyl radical, formed by
thermal decomposition of the dinitrile oft(, a -azodilsobutyric acid,
was Identified (fig. 1). It was found about 70"! of the density of
the unpalred electrons Is on the tertiary carbon atom in the cyanoi-
sopropyl radical and the remainder of the electron density Is local-
Ized near the nitrogen atom, confirming the possibility of the exist-
enco of the radical in the mesomeric form:
