TITLE: The Elasto--Plastio Deformation of a Plane Caused by the Actic.. of a Concentrated Force (Uprugo-plasticheskaya deformatsiya ploskosti, vyzvannaya deystviym sosredotochennoy sily) PERIODICAL: Doklady Akadeaii Nauk SSSR, 1957, Vol. 115, Nr 3, PP. 473-474 (USSR) ABSTRACT: In a plastic treatment the present paper solves one of the classical problems of the theory of elasticity, namely the problem of the distribution of tensions and deformations caused in a plane by the action of a concentrated force. At first the solution of the -.orresponding elastic problem is given. The sought solution of the elasto-plastic problem is here deter- mined with consideration of the law of linear consolidation in the plastic domain and of the incompressibility of the material in the elastic and in the plastic domain. The compo- nents of the strain and the deformation In the elastic and in the plastic domains must satisfy the system of the e conditions 2 _ _ -a (r & )+ 11L 6" - 0, 2Vk + (r O-)-o e Card 1/3 Y_ r a 9 r d a e 19 r ~- 2&,3-13/59 The Elasto-Plastic Deformation of a Plane Caused by the Action of a Concen- trated Force and the compatibility condition of the deformations r + (r r-~X) - 0. The boundary conditions of the problem are reduced to the fact that the state of stress decreases to zeko in'infini- ty. The consolidation of the material is approximated by a linear function. The author obtains the solution 6'r - -(P/Tt-) cos G/r, vg - 5- - 0. In this connection P signifies the force referred to the unit of the thickness of plate. The boundary of the plastic domain is formed by two circles which meet in that point where the forces are applied. For the diameter of the plastic domain applies d s-~ r/cos 9 - P/2 IF . Ivlev, entitled "On Some Papers of K.N. Shevchenko on the Theory of Plasticity" was prblished. One point which is mentioned in that paper, namely, the fact that there is a discontinuity in the displacement vector on the boundary between the elastic and plastic zone in the case of a plane subjected to a localised force, is treated in the author's paper on p, 152 of the present journal (this issue). The present authoi.- now argues that: a) Eq (1) in Ivlev's paper is,useless; b) Ivlev derives completely incorrect expressions (Eqs 5-7) and ascribes them to the present author; c) Ivlev has not understood the present author's papers. This discontinuity is due to a discontinuity in the hardening properties of the material on the boundary of the plastic zone. The elasto-plastic problem for a plane loaded with a localised force is considered. The co-ordinate axes are shown in Figure 1. It is required Card 1/3 SOV/24-58-9-29/31 On the Method of Solution.of Same PrDblewls of KiAsticity and Plasticity to determine the stresses) the deformations and displace- ments in the elastic and plastic regions. In addition to boundary conditions one has continuity conditionsfor the components of stress, deformtion and displacement'on the boundary between the plastic and the elastic regions. The stress and deformation components in both regions must satisfy the following equilibrium equations: a (rar) + at" - a 0 Z)r E) 2 + (r 0 r ~r Card 2/3 SOV/24-58-9-29/31 On the Method of Solution of Some Problems of Elasticity and Plasticity 2er aer 3 2 Dee Y - r + r 0 (1.2) a (D2 ar 8r 30 It is shown that in the present problem the distribution of stresses in both the plastic and elastic regions is the same, namely: ar 2P cos a = -U = 0 (2.1) '0- r 8 There are 3 figures and 3 Soviet references. SUBMITTED: July 14, 1958 Card 3/3 S/180/60/000/02/010/028 Stress and Flow of Metal in Some Problems in Volume and Profile Rolling author deduces the contact friction from an estimate of the strains in the deforming zone. Some problems which can be dealt with in this way are insoluble by other methods, e.g. by the theory of small plastic deformations. The first section is devoted to the rolling of narrow strip in smooth rolls. Some of the matter in considering the widening of the strip was included in the authorls paper at the 1956 Brussells Congress on Applied Mechanics (Ref 2 -) and in a paper by Arutyunov (Ref 3). The results are applicable for instance on the blooming or slabbing mill process. Next Ithe author discusses the rolling of a rectangular profile between two pairs-of flat rolls, giving solutions for: pure drawing, where contact friction is ignored; conditions where inside the strip the longitudinal component of stress is zero; conditions where friction Card stays constant at a positive valuei conditions wh3re 2/3 friction is a function of the relative speed of contact friction of the metal. Finally the author examines SHEVCHENKO, K.N. (~bsk7a) Setting of the plasticity problem for an anisotropic body. Inzh. sbor. 31:86-92 961o (MERA 14:6) (Plasticity) SHEVCHENKO.,.K.N.; MAMEDOV, I.A. Vses. n.-i. in-ta zh.-d. transp.", no 214, 1961, 19-28 TEXT: The installation of a regenerator increases the efficiency of a gas-turbine plant more than the instal- lation of an air-cooler having the same surface area. In the first case the efficiency reaches 26.5 %, while in the second - only 23 %. The use of a second heat inlet increases significantly the efficiency of the gas-turbine plant. In this case also a regenerator is more effective than an air cooler. The installation of a regenerator in a two- shaft gas-turbine plant, between the turbine driving the compressor and the main turbine, decreases the specific work of the gas-turbine plant and higher irk are needed; however the temperature head increases and the losses in the regenerator decrease. On the whole, this design of the gas-turbine plant does not show appreciable advantages. With gas temperatures of 1000-1 100*K it is worthwhile to use a two-comprcssor gas-turbine plant in order to obtain an optimal value of ir, The efficiency of the most advanced gas-turbine plant, which has a double heat-inlet, a regenerator and an air-cooler and whose main turbine is an intermediate or low pressure one, is 28-30 %. Formulas for the determination of the percentage of regeneration and intercooling are obtained. [Abstracter's note: Complete translation.] Card 1/1 ~/JIW21000/006,007/021 1007/1207 Author Shevehenko. The motor-car propulsion system consists of a gas- turbine engine, one 3-phase synchronous generator and two traction induction motors with rotors of squirrel cage type. The generator excitation system is fed from an exciter mounted on the turbocompressor shaft. The auxiliary generator used for feeding lighting and control circuits and for charging storage batteries is also mounted on the same shaft. The experimental research is conducted in two stages of which the first one covers the preliminary investigations with one motor car while the second stage deals with a two-car train. The data on the 350-hp gas-turbine engine, the 400-v, 450-amp, 50-cPs generator Card 1/2 UDCt 625.282-843.8 L 4-5673--6-6 ACC NR: and 40/554kw, 380-v induction motor are presented in tables. A general view of the motor car is shown in a photo. Electric circuit diagrams are presented for one-car and two-car versions. The arrangement of the equipment inside the motor car is also illus- trated. The installation and operation of the equipment is discussed including the control of speed, reversal of rotation and brake actions. Speed-traction curves (experi- mental and theoreUcal) are established and plotted for a two-car train. It is concluded, that the investigated and tested propulsion system can successfully be used for electric railway traction. A further research and development of large gas-turbine motor cars and' trains with an a-c propulsion system is strongly recommendede Orig. arto has; 5 figures* SUB CODE: 13, 2-1)07/SM DATE: None/ ORIG REF: 003 2/2 OC /0, VOLKOV) A.S.; SHEVCHENKO, L.B.
