Abstract : Blood of animals was drawn 3-5 hrs after meat-meal on the
3-5 day after applying of constricting ligature, then
after 3 weeks in presence of several anastomoses, and
5-7 days after complete ligature of the portal vein.
Operative action on the portal vein, led to an increase
in the blood of NH3 (aver. plus 1Wo), and of glutamine
blus 31%); particularly prominent in cases of complete
closure of the portal vein and a considerable develop-
ment of porto-caval anastamoses, and the least in the
development of the hepato-lobal anast-mr-ases. It is

proposed that for experimental purposes that the Pavlov
apparatus should be substituted by a simpler approach-
that of stenosis, following it by a complete ligature of
portal vein. The porto-caval anasta ses..in the opinion
of the author, can act as the pavlovian fisturae.

Abstract :Methods for the application of mineral
fertilizers in young orchards were investi-
gated by the Mleyev Experimental Station of
Horticulture in the course of 6 years. In
the experiments were the variants; without
manure, NPKy at the rate of 60 kg/ha into

apertures at a depth of 35-40 cm (4
apertures on 1 m); NPKj at the rate of
60 kg/ha at the furrow to a de
,pth of 30 cm,
and NPK, at the rate of 60 ke/ha under the
plow to a depth of 20-22 cm. Once in 3
years on the entire area, and also on that
under control) 20 t/ha of manure was intro-
duced. The mineral fertilizers were
applied yearly in autumn, The application
of fertilizers under the plow in the period
of autumn plowing was most effective. By
this method of fertilizer application, the
root system is not impaired, and it utilizes
the fertilizers more energetically. --
