ABSTRACT: The First Bulaarian National Conference on Spectroacopy was hold on
14, 15, an 16 June 1965 in Plovdiv under the auspices of the Commission on
Spectroscopy of the Bulgai~aan academy of Sciences, the Committee for Science and
Technological Progress, the Institute for Nonferrous Metalurgy, and the Kombinat
for Nonferrous Metals in Plovdiv. The meeting was attended by 78 participants,
and 40 contributed papers covered problems of atomic and molecular spectral
analysis, the infrared and ultraviolet spectroscopy, magnetic and electronic para-
magnetic resonance, the design of spectroscopic devices, and the organization and
economical operation of modern industrial spectroscopic laboratories. The next
national conference wil-I be held in September of 1966 in the town of Ruse, while
the third conference will extend invitations to foreign scientists as well.. The
proceedings of the Conference will be published as a separate publication*

A3STRACT: To determine the cause of the large scatter (Ac~ = + 1.85) of the
coefficient of linear expansion titanium alloys, the expan o~ coefficient and
texture of the corresponding me f6i were investigated on VT1-1 4ecimens. The
coefficient of linear expansaon was measured over the temperature interval of 20--
120C with a dilatomater, while the texture was deteriained by the x-ray method. The
coefficient of linear expansion was significantly affected by the texture, with thrGe
