Abstract: The ethereal oil content was determined in fruits
and leaves of the A, fruticosa, employing the Im-
proved Klevenger's apparatus. The necessity of
coarse grinding of raw materials prior to distil-

TEXT: Uraniferous rocks of tectonic zones possess a better conduc-
tance than the surrounding rocks; this allowu them to be revealed
by means of the resistivity method. Uranium nineralizat-ion can al-
so be exposed by means of the method of determining the radon con-
centration in soil air. It is possible, too, to determine approxi-
mately the uranium distribution and the nature of the mineraliza-
tion (U., Th, U-Thl and to estimate approxima;ely the degree of the

TITLE: Determination of copper oxide (CuO) in the presence
of elementary copper by X-ray-diffraction without the
use of standards

.TEXT: The preuent work was carried out to develop a general me-
thod Nr the determination of CuO In the presence of Cu; experi-
...nt8 have ahown that the same method can be used for it number of
Cu compounds and minerals. A Berthold diffractometer with a Geiger
counter and an iiutomatic recorder were used measuring the intensi-
ty of the 2.31 A line of CuO.-The samples were prepared by an im-
proved method of Kay. To reduce the variation in the absorption
-coefficient when CuO is present in smaller concentrations, I part
by weight of Cu was added to 5 parts by weight of CuO contained in
arl amorphous mixture of CuO + S102 mixture. I-. was found that the

the results obtained by the present method are higher by-./3.5%
for the range 10 - 10(YA CuO. The following advantages are likely
to offset the lower accuracy: (1) The pousibility of using any
inert sub8tance with a relatively close mass absorption coeffi-
cient; (2) the pousibility of adding any proportion of the inert
substance; (3) ~he absence of a standard, in pirticular when sub-
stances with a large number of spectral lines are investigated,
