ABSTRACT: The author considers polynomials orthogonal on a curve or in a
domain of the complex plane. He gives necessary and sufficient
conditions that such polynomials have a common zero; further-
more that they have a uniformly bounded number of terms. An
asymptotic formula for polynomials orthogonal in a domain, is
given. Finally, polynomials are considered which are orthogonal
at the same time in the domain and or. the boundary.

TITLEt Method for Calculation of an Induction Motor With Copper
Coating on the Rotor (metodika rascheta asinkhronnogo
dvigatelya s mednym pokrytiyem na rotore)
PERIODICALs Nauchnyye doklady vysshey shkoly. Elektromekhanika i
avtomatika, 1958, Nr 4, pp 75-82 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: A convenient method is shown here for calculating the param-
eters and operating characteristics of an induction motor with
copper coating on the rotor. A rectangular coordinate system
is used for determining the parameter. Since an accurate
solution is impossible, some assumptions are made and
corrections then carried out on the basis of experimental data.
The magnetic permeability is assumed to be constant. The
influence of the hysteresis (for the steel-medium) is not
considered. It is assumed that the power lines in the rotor
body take a cylindrical course. Only the fundamental wave of
the induction is examined. Equation (19) for the reduced
equivalent effective resistance of the rotor, and equation (20)
Card 1/4 for the reduced equivalent inductive resistance of the rotor
Method for Calculation of an Induction Motor With
Copper Coating or, the Rotor
are derived. The change in the magnetic permeability on the
rotor surface with the change of the working method of the
motor is considered with the help of three equations, as in
the paper (Ref 1): The first equation gives the interrelation
of the maximum induction Bm in the ferromagnetic medium with
the induction Bin the air gap, the slip S, and the magnetic
permeability P2; the second equation is that of the
magnetizing curve of the rotor material, and the third brings
the interrelation of the induction in the air gap with the
parameters of the equivalent circuit diagram, and the
operation method of the motor. The three equations are solved
and the magnetic permeability is determined for the given
slip. The equivalent circuit diagram is used for calculating
the motor characteristics. This is obtained on the basis of
equations (19) and (20). The resistance's of the equivalent
circuit diagram, the stator current, the electromagnetic
output, the electromagnetic motor moment, and the output
Card 2/4 factors cos? are determined. Experiments were made for the
Method for Calculation of an Induction Motor With SOV/161-58-4-11/28

purpose of checking the theory presented here. The parameters
of the rotor are calculated for 10 points within the slip
range of from 1-0.1, in accordance with the equations (19)
and (20). The results of the experiments and those of the
calculations differ from between +5-5~ to -8%. The calculated
characteristics are well in agreement with the experimental
characteristics, for motors with a solid rotor as well as for
those with a copper covered solid rotor. The comparison of
these characteristics for the same type of machine showed
that with closed slots on the stator, copper covering is
especially effective. The publication of this article was

TOPIC TAGS: induction pump, magnetohydrodynamic pump, spiral induction pump design
ABSTRACT: Spiral induction pumps are similar to polyphase induction motors with a
hollow, nonmagnetic rotor. The liquid metal moves along the direction of the traveling
magnetic field velocity. The spiral transforms the rotary motion into a combined rota-
tion and translation. The authosspresent a design theory based upon an analysis of:f*he
electromagnetic field components of three-phase indifction pumpiL Design parameters of
the secondary circuit, comprising the liquid metall;tnd the hermetic seal enclosure are
found by an analysis-of their penetration by the~electromagnetic waves, The discussion

be two polynomial statistics, where the coefficients of I are different from
zero in P(P= ) and those of X I are different from zero in (i-10 .... n).
i
Theorems If the statistics P(;;4) and Q(,W) are stochastically independent,
then the distribution of every component of '-- possesses finite power moments
of all orders. Theorems If P( ~~ ) and q(~Fr rare stochastically independent
and if Q(~~ ) is a linear form, then for all h (0--h 0, A> 1 are constants and 0.< h4oo .
These theorems permit generalizations to the quasipolynomial statistics
proposed by Linnik in 1955. The statistics S(;E~) is called quasipolynomial
if there exists a continuous function YS) and two non-negative polynomials
R( and of deLvree ?Z, 1 such that 'for all ~~ holds:
r 0.
R 3~ y(S ('g- ) )?
The first theorem remains true for quasipolynomial statistics. The second
theorem holds if P(~~ ) is quasipolynomial.
For the proof of the theorem the author proposes a method which can be talcen
as a refinement of the method of Linnik (Vestnik LGU _IIL 35 (1956)).
