curred only in Africa, Asia, America, and Australia appeared in Bulgaria
and in Europe in general. Special measures to prevent the spread of in-

National Salmonellosis Center was organized in Bulgaria in 1965. This
center is based on the Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology
and Mdcrobiology (NIEM) and the Veterinary Institute of Infectious and
Parasitic Diseases (VIZPB) at Sofia. It directs and coordinates work

Thirty-one patients with acute eczema, 1.19 with chronic eczema. 31 with psoriasis
vulgarls, 13 with neurodermatitis, 16 with dermatitis and 16 with other skin dis-
cases were treated with novocaine, given Lv, In 72 cases and as 0.251. or a 0.50%
solution of novocaine pet-orally in 154 cases (I tablespoon 3 times daily, 30 min.
before meals). The administration of novocaine in the majority of cases rapidly
decreased the pruritus and improved the sleep of the patients. As a result of the
treatment, clinical recovery was observed in 87 cases or eczema, 6 of neuro-
dermatitis, 12 of dermatitis and I of psoriasis vulgaris; considerably improved
were 46 patients with eczema, 5 with neurodermatitis and 21 with psoriasis
vulgaris. Seven of the 72 patients who received Lv. injections complained of slight

Forty-eigbt patients with various forms of tuberculous skin diseases (41 with
lupus vulgaris) and histories dating back up to 20 yr. were treated by internal
administration of vitamin DZ (100-150 thousand units per day); the courses of
treatment lasted from 4 to 6 months. A number of patients received supplement-
ary treatment - the tubercles were destroyed by elect rocoagulation and ultra-
violet radiation. After the first course of treatments, 25 patients were cured,
16 patients were considerably improved and some improvement was noted in
4 cases. Seven patients had relapses. The beat results were achieved in patients
with lupus vulgarim. The treatment of one patient had to be interrupted during the
