T=-E. What will be the development of air transportation until the year
2000
PERIODICAL: Letecls@k obzor, no. 3, ig6i, 91
TM-2 The author predicts a general Improvement of air transportation till
the year 22-000, but still, there will be no substantial changes as compared to the
present state. Flight speeds, f)r instance, could be increased; however, most
alrorafts will fly at altitudes where aerodynamic laws apply, and increased
speeds will always be connected with higher fuel costs. The author, therefore,
anticipates that large aircraft (above 200 seats) will not exceed supersonic
speeds, and that smaller aircraft win still fly far below sonic speeds. An ex-
ception, of course, will be military aircraft whien are not designed with a view
to economy. A possibility to achieve higher economy of an aircraft is to improve
the operational efficiency, i.e., the ratio between payload and total aircraft
weight. However, it can be expected that much of the weight saved by improved
designs, use of lightweight metal, lightweight, high calorific fuels, etc., will

TEXT: A device for the determination of the efficiency of refrigerators
and of the automatic control of their operation is suggested. The block diagram
of the apparatus consists of analog. elements incorporating potentiometers, Sens-
ing elements and constant resistances assembled to cascades the individual steps
of which are separated from each other by cathode repeaters. The cascades
measure with the aid of appropriate sensing elements the consumption, tempera-
ture, and pressure of the coolant before and after evaporation. The performance
of the refrigerators is automatically calculated in the block diagram, and is
indicated or recorded with the corresponding device. The operation of the ap-
paratus was based on the mathematical depenaence: Q = G(12-il), where Q is the

ABST&ACT: The advantage of using the theory of weighted representations is demonstr
ted on the example of AIN. The article briefly reviews the results of the general
theory of weighted representations which are important for its application and gives
a fairly detailGd application of the theory to a specific space group. Important
advantages of weighted representations for group analysis of non-symorphous space
groups in comparison with some other methods are pointed out. The author thanks

TITLE: Electrocardiogram analysis by electronic computer
PZ-'RIUDIC,@L: Fiziolohichnyy --hurnal, v. 8, no. 6, 1962, 803-808
TEaT: With the present-day developments in cybernetics
and mathematics it is novi possible to elirdnate subjective errors
in diagnosis by the use of mechanical devices either singly or in
groups. Results are presented of the autonatic analysis of electro-
cardiograms by electronic computer, using'the 'IdevI computer for
.the analysis of a single curve during 0.5-- 1 minute. The algoritbn
of electrocardiogram analysis provided*for the introduction into
the machine of an electrocardiogram section taken in the second
classical lead and the automatic analysis of it'giving intervals
PF and PQ (or PR) in seconds, the parameters o-AE the Waves !?Q
and the QRS complex in seconds, of waves PQ and R in mv, and the
characteristics of the form of wave P. Some of the most frequent

characteristic disturbances in the rhyt1im are also present-ed from
the analysis. The general principles are given for the construc-
tion of the algoritl-m, with the results from a detailed analysis of
several electrocardiograms accompanied with data from normal analy-
sis of the same curve. Comparison of the data obtained showcd good
agreement between characteristics determined automatically and the
results obtained by the usual methods.

TITLE: Some Remarks on the Collective DescriDtion of Electron
Interactions. The Partition Function
PERIODICAL: Acta Physica Polonica, 1960, Vol. 19, No. 3, PP. 383 - 403
TEXT: In section 1 of the paper, the author refers to a former paper
(Ref. 7) where he has formulated a renormalizing method leading to the
elimination of divergences from collective descriptions, and to that of
Bohm and Pines (Ref. 1). In section 2, a new renormalization procedure is
formulated. The variant of the collective description proposed by the
author is nearly Hermitian and approximates Bohm - Pines' theory to any
desired degree of exactness. Equivalence with the many-electron
Schroedinger equation is direct. In section 3, an exact statistical
function is derived. In connection with the computation it was found that
the Bohm - Pines subsidiary conditions, improved by introducing a certain
renormalizing term, yield the exact partition functioi., whereas Kanazawa's
supplementary conditions (Ref. 4) lead to false results provided the

renormalization procedure proposed by the author in the earlier paper is
applied to their theory. It is found that the normalizing parameter is
defined in accordance with equation (3-30), the formulation of Bohm and
Pines (Ref. 1) is valid for sufficiently low temperatures, whereas the
approach of Kazanawa extends into a temperature range wherein heat
phenomena (electron collision) play an important part; however, under the
latter circumstances the formalism of the theory becomes non-linear.
