near the critical point

TEXT: The author studied light diffraction on an ultrasonic wave field
in two different systems: CO 2 near the critical point and a critical
solution of aniline in cyclohexane. The diffraction patterns were filmed
at a rate of 12/sec, 175,000 pictures were taken altogether, in series of
10 - 20, to avoid heating of the substance. The experiments were made.at
various pressures and temperatures and for several intensities of the
ultrasonic waves (1 Mcps): In CO 2 pressure was varied from 66 to 84 atm
(critical pressure 73 atm) and temperature from 25 to 330C (critical
temperature 310C). In aniline-cyclohexane (33-3@ aniline) all measurements
were made at atmospheric pressure between 38 and 30-70C (i.e. down to the
critical point of the solution). The results for the two systems differ

considerably from each other. In general, it may be said that the diffrao-
tion patters in CO2 have some periodical characteristics whereas no
periodicity was found in aniline-cyclohexane. The diffraction fringes of
both showed a fine structure. Results for CO 2. The mean periodicity of
appearance and diffluence of the pattern was found to be 0.48 sec. The
mean time between two consecutive distinct patterns was O@49 sec. The
mean time between appearaince of a symmetrical and that of an asymmetrical
pattern was 1.81 sec. The absolute values were largely spread, the root-
mean-square deviation was 2.59 sec. The mean duration of the sharp
pattern arising after switching on the ultrasonic field near the critical
point was 0,18 see., Results for aniline-cyclohexane-. No time constants
were observed. The patterns were stationary for longer time periods both
for sharp and diffluent pictures. Diffluence was never complete., It is
possible that some periodicity of fluctuation exists whichhas a very long
period. The patterns did not change in the temperature range studied.
However, 0.40C above the critical point slight instabilities were observed.
Diffluence reaches a maximum near 310C, but is in any case smaller zhan
for CO 2' The highest order of fringes observed was t3. An initial

diffluence was not found. Conclusions. The interaction between wave
field and fluctuations leads to a curvilinear sound propagation and to
the occurrence of discontinuities in the wave fronts. Light diffraction
in such a medium is specific of nature and state of the substance. The
difference between the two systems investigated is mainly due to the fact.
that different kinds of fluctuations arise,, These fluctuations are under-
stood as transitions between assemblies of one kind into assemblies of
another kind. In the CO system these are liquidz;?@vapor transitions, in

TEXT: Defined siloxanes of the structure (CH 3)2HSi( 01/2)' CH3HSi(O 1/2)2'
CH3Si(O 1/2)3' HSi(O 1/2)3' and Si(O 1/2)4 were obtained by co-hydrolysis
and subsequent condensation of (CH 3)2 HSiCl and CH 3H 2SiCl, respectively,
with CH 3HSiC1 2$' CH 3Sici 3' HS'Cl3 and S'C14 . A number of defined methyl-
and methyl hydrosiloxanes has been described-in a previous paper (Ref. 1).
They were either prepared by co-hydrolysis and co-condensation or by an
"'equilibrating procedure,, in which hexamethyl disiloxane, (CH 3)6 Si20,
was dissolved in 80al. H 2so4and the multifunctional chloro silane,
(SiCY CH 3 Sici3), was added by dropso Thus, the latter was hydrolyzed by

H2 so4 and "equilibrated" with the excess hexamethyl disiloxane.
Equilibration could also be applied to the trifunctional silicon
chloroform, (Hsicl 3)1- Tris(trimethyl siloxy)silane, (THM 3)1 and
tetrakis(trimethyl siloxy)1,3-dihydrodisiloxane, (T HM4.), were thus

obtained. The Si-H bond of (HSiC1 3) was not attacked by the 80. ]1 2 so 4*
The authors did not, however, succeed in reacting the monofunctional
tetramethyl-1,3-dihydrodisiloxane, (CH 3)2HSiOSiH(CH 3)29 in 80% H 2 so4 with
silicon tetrachloride, methyl trichloro silane, or silicon chloroform.
The hydrogen bound to silicon reacted strongly with sulfuric acid under
the formation of sulfur dioxide. Siloxanes with Si-H bonds in the
mcnofunctional component were therefore only obtained by co-hydrolysis
and co-condensation of the respective chloro silanes. (W. Willer,

tionating methyl dichloro silane in the presence of dimethyl cyanamide).

ABSTRACT: The article describes an analyzer for calculating in-
duction motors, built by the authors, under the di-
rection of Professor, Doctor, Engineer Dubicki, B.
A block scheme of the main circuit of this analyzer
will be found in Fig 14 and a front, side and rear
view in Fig 15. The performance of induction motors
is usually calculated by analytic methods or graphical
methods such as circle diagrams, on the basis of an
equivalent circuit. These calculations tend to be
complex in the case of motors with high bars in the
rotor or double squirrel cage motors and even more so
in case of single phase motors. The authors describe
here the Moneca network calculator built by the

Analyzer for Calculating Induction Motors
equivalent circuits of different kinds of induction
motors. By measuring voltage, current and power in
the circuit, the performance of the motor may be pre-
dicted, The equivalent circuit is made up of a de-
cade set of resistances, reactances and capacitances,
its characteristic feature being the substitution of
reactances for capacitances and vice-versa. This
makes for greater accuracy in calculation since
losses in capacitors are much smaller than losses in
choke coils. The authors at this point reproduce at
length the results of preliminary measurements made
on model circuits. They consider that these results
fully justify their initial assumptions. An analysis
of unit values of resistances and reactances was
performed and the limits of the possible values of
circuit constants for motors of different powers and

power supply is concerned, a frequency of 500 cyclesp

Abstract: [Author's English summary modified] Author dis-
cusses breech presentation, perinatal mortality, and help
afforded in such cases. He then describes the Bulski method
of manual help, describing it as easy to perform and safe
for both infant and mother, and in -which difficulties may
be encountered only in exceptional cases in the third peri-
od of labor. Ihere are 13 references: 7 Polish, 4 Gex-rnan,
