functional strain of the osseous tissue. In case
of declina in the functions of separate muscles
of the foot and lower leg, the lineal systems
in the CS of the bones disappear, the formtion
of which lines in healthy persons depends upon
tension from the muscles. With complete lose

the CS of the foot bones become reduced. On
the contrary, incthletes, the lineal systems in
the CS are more clearly defined in proportion to
the increased functions of the nuseles. Hence)
the distribution and degree of growth of sepa-

Received: April 7, 1958
ABSTRACT: For the purpose of examining gas containers intended to hold oxygen,
hydraulic hand-operated pumps ,rH-200" have hitherto been used in
the USSR. The attempt was made to provide this pump vrLth an electric
drive, which, however, made it complicated to use them. The Moscow
Central Office for Oxygen Production "Giprokislorod" made a draft
for the construction of such a pump with electric drive, which fact
is mentioned here.
The data of this hydraulic test pump are: Efficiency - 25 1 p.h.
final pressure - 225 atmospheres absolute (excess) pressure,
diameter of plunger - 12 mm, plunger path - 30 mm, number of revs.
- 138 p.min. , electromotor "A 42-611, total weight with electromo-
tor (on a common ground plate) - 125 kg, weight of the pump alone
Card 1/ 2 - 45 kg, measurements of the plant - 87ox4lox620 mm.

It is said that this test pump can be produced by every factory,
and that for this purpose the necessary drawing can be obtained
from the aforementioned office.

MIIODICAL: Kislorod, 1957, 40 - Nr 0", pn. 2;3-'26 (USSR)
Received- April 7, 19558
ABSTRACT: In this paper a new construction "CKARC-17' , a device for the pro-
duction of gaseous oxygen for technical purposes with an output per
hour of 17 m3 and 92.2% purity, or of liquid nitrogen of 15 Vh is
described. Compared with the hitherto used plant of the type "OK-12'
the new one is 14.6% less expensive than the former ones and the
prime costs of the oxygen produced by them is diminished according-
ly by 38.2%. Besides, a new standard project for an oxygen station
was acrked out (by "Gidrokislorod") , which provides for such a
station to be equip ed with the, plan@having a degree of
efficiency of 130 P1Vh for 99.2% oxygen. According to necessity, it
is possible to fill the containers with the oxygen or to put it in-
to storage from where it can be conveyed through tube lines to the
station for which it is destined. The new standard products of the
Card 1/2 stations intended to be equipped with the plants mentioned have

ABSTRACT: The degree of the state of stress within the rpnge of "sample
contra@@tionll (Refs 1, 21 must not be neglected when diagrams
of the real itress of plastic metals are plotted and their reaT_
properties of strength axe determined. The parameter mentioned
b@y N. N. Davidenkov and N. I. Spiridonova (Ref 1) as well as
P. Bridzhmen (Ref 2) is difficult to be determined by experi-
ments, A method is described whereby real stress curves can
b-e plotted without measurement of the curvature of the con-
traction profile. Equations are given whereby the main stresses
in the contraction of the extended sample can be determined,
taking into account the properties of the material.
N. N. Davidenkov gave valuable advice, First, th *e dependence
of medium stress on deformation in the sammle contraction
was determineff in a number of metals. The final equpt-ion (11)

contraction; it is simple and does not include the above-
mentioned parameter which is very difficult to be determined.
The author gives extension curves for steel and brass with
and without regard to the de-ree of the state of stress in
the sample contraction (Fig 4). The curve calculated from
equation (11) shows that on deformation increase the coeffi-
cient of strength decreases, while the deformation nesistance
continuously increases up to a certain value. The experi-
mental results obtained are in good agreement with those
mentioned in (Ref 5). There are 4 figures and 3 Soviet
references.

TEXT: The equations of the stress-strain-curve are obtained in the sec-
tior. beyond the strength limit on the basis of the stress-strain diagrams in the
coordinates stress - minimum diameter of the specimen; both cases were considered:
with and without allowance for the volume stress state, which was caused by the
neck. These ea,iations have the forms respectively:
6 = Z3b @l + K2 [exp(-0-5@ b) exp 0.5 f-
6 = (1b [@ - exp [ 0 .5 ( 6 b -I

On One Representation of the Plastic Creep Curve of Metals
where dc is the initial diameter of the specimens, dp is the diameter cf the
specimens at the strength limit (the diameter of the torn specimen behind the
boundary of the neck). The equation with allowance for the volume stress state
is Eimuller than the usual equations. it permits the plotting of the curve of
uniaxial stress state of a ductile metal according to the usual mechanical
characteristics, without measurements for determing the curvature radius of the
neck of the specimen extended. It is shown that the actual ultimate strength
car. be determined in computational way from the first equation of the stress-
strain diagram.

TITLE;: Acceleration of the Drying of Sanitary Faience Prodicts
FERIODICAL: Steklo i keramika, 1959, Nr lo, PP 31 - 35 (USSR)
A.3STRACT: The Pyrometric Laboratory of the NIIStroykeramika investigated
the possibility of drying sanitary faience without previous
drying in the air, and of shortenin.- the drying time in arti-
ficial drying plants. Thus, the production of the plants can
be increased. The results measurement of the drying process of
lavatory basins made from various masses are shown on a dia-
gram in figure 1. The composition of the masses is shown in
table 1. The influence of the speed of the drying ar-Ont or,
the speed.of evaporationwas determined by further experiments.
The temperature curves for various points of the products during
the drying are shown in figure 2. The comparative mean values
for drying tests of lavatory- and wash-basins made from the
mass of the Lobrya 'i;orks are shown in table 2 . Tests were
also carried out under working conditions in the cl@a-_"ber drying
installations of the Lobnya Works, the results of -.,;h-ich may be

the possibility of reducing the drying time for sanitary pro-

ducts to 18-20 hours. A controlled action of the drying agent
aa shown in figure 4 is proposed for an improvement of the drying
results.There are 4 figures and 3 tables.
