Predacious fungi belonging to the genus Didymotoophaga. isolated from the
soils of Turkmenis'tan (R.A.M., 31, p. 1251, were studied at Tm-f;titute of his"
and Medical Parasitology, Ashhabad, T.S.S.R. The change from the saprophytic
to predacioud form of U& took place when the environment wits changed by th@
troducts of nematode activity. The carbonate Ion produced in the Liquid medium -
y the nematode in one of the most effective utivatorb induoing the production
of the catching apparatus. Deprived of the morphologically differentiated sensitive
organs the protoplasm of these fungi becomes highly sensitive to increasin in the
carbonate ion. By changing the litter piMacious fungi can be made to adopt
either saprophytio or predscious form of life.

Title : The Influence of Metabolites of Soil Microbes
on the Isolation of Antibiotics by Means of
Fungus Antagonists

Abstract: Experiments were conducted with 2 strains of
Penicillium and 3 of Aspergillus. The fungi
were cultivated in the standard medium, to
which filtrates of bacteria cultures, isolated
from the same sample of soil as the fungus, In
the proportion of 1:1 were added. The antagon-
istic properties were determined by the method
of agar "blochki". A comparison of the zones of
growth suppression of the test microbes showed

TEXT, The TESLA Works, Rowznov, hold a conference annually for
the benefit of technical representatives of users, research
institutes and specialists, with the aim of discussing their
future activities and plans, The Third Conference, held on
April U-13,1961 with the participation of 180 delegates (not
including representatives of the organizers) revealed not
only the availability of new types of tubes but also an
improvement in the quality, particularly as regards reducing
the consumption of V've filaments, increasing the maximum permissible
anode dissipation, increasing the service life,etc, In
transistors, particularly, a reduction in noise was achieved as
well as an increase in the limit frequency reverse voltage,
mechanical resistance and stability of the parametets in storage
and in operation. Currently manufactured tubes have service lives

manufacturers expressed the view that the practice of kecping
tubes in "hot reserve" i,e, !ceepinp, the heater circuit
connected and disconnectx)tg the anode circuit reduces the
service life more sharply than if the tube were in normal
operation Long service-life tubes have to be built to closer
tolerances i,e input capacitances - maximum 10%, anode
current and steepness maximum - 20% and greater mechanical
strength, n-p-n transistors for all-transistor receivers and
low-frequency pre-amplifiers are being manufactured and the
manufacture is commenced of transist@,rs for the shortwave
range (OC170). I-lost of the types to be manufactured are for
television use; transistors for h.f. circuits with a limit
frequency above 500 Mc/s and transistors for horizontal swetp
in television re@eivers, 35 Wi 1.5 Mc/s@ The 35 W
transistors will be suitable for high-quality, low-frequency
amplifiers. In the low-frequency range the manufacture is
being introduced of power transistors of 3, 12 and 50 W4
