The epoxy resins were obtained from diphenylol propane and epichloro hydrine in alkaline medium, and contained 18 - 20 % of epoxy groups. Dimethyl resorcine resin was obtained by condensation of dimethyl resorcine with formaldehyde in the presence of mono- or polyvalent alcohols. A combination of 70 $ epoxy resin and 30 % dimethyl resorcine showed the best properties: Brinell hardness 30 - 34 kg/mm2, heat resistance according to Vicat 115 - 1250C, compressive strength 1300 kg/cm2. Glass fabric was steeped with the unhardened copolymer, dried at 70 - 800C, and then pressed. The binding agent content was (30t2)%. The resilience of the textolite obtained was 350 - 400 kg.cm/CM2, its binding strength Card 1/2 87879 A Block Copolymer of Epoxy- and Dimethyl S/191/60/000/005/004/0210 Resorcine Resins as Binding Agent for Glass- B0041BO64 reinforced Plastics 2 4000 - 4500 kg/cm , its heat resistance according to Martens 2500C. Of what does the lunar surface cansist? How did the lunar craters and seas appear? On the second question, he cites the view of A. Sabakov that the lunar surface is covered with a reddish-brown dust containing iron compounds the view of N. Sitinska that the lunar surface is covered with a dense black ci-ast resulting from meteorite bombardments, and the view of F. Whipple who believes that the moon consists of a porous, fragile and dark surface. Because of the lack of an atmosphere, the moon is held to be radioactive but, according to Singer, not sufficiently so to have harmful effects. Furtherp the author .-Card ACCESSION NR: AP4019651 discusses the possibility that the moon might have been hit by an object with a diameter of about 200 kilometers and mentions various hypotheses regarding meteorite bombardment, especWly that of I. Levin who thinks that the moon was hit during its formation stage by very large meteorites. The respective age of various seas and craters on the moon in discussed from various points of view, with emphasis on the opinions of F. Whipple. It is concluded that the surface of the moon was formed by powerful impacts in a relatively short period of time, probab17 about one million years, approximately 4.5 billion years ago. There is discussion of various tentative hypotheses regarding lunar eruptions, and speculation on whether there is a blanket of ice a few motors below the lunar surface. The gas eruptions noted by N. Kozirev In November 1958 and at Lowell Observatory in November 1963.indicated that the Lima subsurface contains petroleum that c9uld become a source of energy for astrowats, Orig. art. has: 3 figures. The problem of energy is particularly important in ferrous metal- lurgy, where high quantities of thermal energy are involved. The problem of heat recovery in metallurg- ical furnaces is compared first with heat recovery in modern boiler systems and it is concluded that heat recovery in metallurgy is a much more complicat- 0 ed problem. The authors affirm that almost two decades ago, Soviet scientists and engineers analyz- Card 1/4 ed the basic problems of heat recovery in ferrous RUM'/9-59-9-5/46 Heat Recovery in Ferrous Metallurgy Furnaces (Part I) metallurgy. In metallurgical furnaces the most im- portant ways of heat loss are! evacuation of the hot gases let out from the circuit of the furnace process, heat in the cooling water used in Martin furnaces, rolling-mill furnaces, blast furnaces, etc; the "physical" heat of the furnace gases, for the re- covery of which there is no adequate technological solution as yet; blast-furnace slag heat, Martin furnace, Thomas converter slag heat, heat in the rolled products, in the chills; losses in conducts, leakages, radiation, etc. Pig 1 presents a graph of the losses of heat in a ferrous metallurgical combine, The total quantity of heat loss in Pig 1 is 381 x 106 kcalAr, or 1.9 x 106 kcal/ton of ingot steel, corre- sponding to about 1/3 of the neat heat consumption. The present level 6of technology allows the :@ecover of about 244 x 10 kcal/h--, 6namely 128 x 100 kcal hr in the power plant, 68 x 10 kcal,7hr as heat energy L for water heating, and possibly 'or the Dower plant, Card 2/4 and 48 x 106 kcal/hr for heating. The ca-lculalions RUM/9-59-9-5/46 Heat Recovery in Ferrous Metallurgy Furnaces (Part I) were continued for the same metallurgical combine and ways were determined to cover the entire energy con- sumption of the combine by means of the secondary internal sources of energy. The results are shown in Fig 2. The necessary electrical energy expressed in power consumed by the whole combine-is 48 mega- watts. The possible production of electrical energy is the following: 60 megawatts through the power engines operated on furnace gas, 46 mw through the utilization of the recoverable quantity of heat led out from the circuit of the metallurgical processes. In this case, it is shown that a surplus of 46 mw is available - 6The warm water and heating necessities are 36 x 10 kcal/hr. The total possibility of pro- duction, through recovery of thg heat of hot gases, of the steam heat, etc, 48 x 10 kcal '1hr. The main sources of heat recoverable from the metallurgical process are given in Table 1. Continuing, the au- thors examine the recovery problem of a system con- Card 3/4 stituted by the metallurgical hearth furnace. The @_X RTRJ'/9-59-9-5/46 .L Heat Recovery in Ferrous Metallurgy Furnaces (Part I) flow diagram of a Martin furnace is given in Fig 3. The authors examine the problem of efficiency by defining and examining the efficiency of the combus- tion (@f), the efficiency of the furnaces "metallur- gical space" (il ), the efficiency of operation (*Qb)9 and the efficieRcy of the furnace (1?0). The values Of @f are represented in the graphs Figs 4 and 5 for water gas, coking gas, furnace gas, mixture (coke and furnace) gas and gas holder gas. The variation of the efficiency-r, is presented in Fig 6. Final- tion,r ly, recommenda 3 are made for the establishing of the heat balance starting from the diagram of the heat flow as represented in Fig 3. The article will be continued. There are 6 graphs and 3 diagrams. k1 Card 4/4 L64955-65 E?A/@L1%TT(1)/EWPtf '/EWG(v)/T1-2 I-Fell -ACCESSION NR: AP5023536 RU/0018/64/000/011/0594/059P, AUTHOR: Stammip 4 TITLE: Relative position of rotary and piston CR@893@OrS_ SOURCE: Constructia de masini@, no. 11, 1964, 594-598 TOPIC TAGS: engine compressor system, propulsion engineering ABSTRACT: A comparative analysis of rotary and piston compressors leads the authors to conclude that rotavj compressors are technically superior and that their, manufacturing and utilization in Rumania should be increased. The single crystals were obtained from solutions of 9 - 10 at % of telluriu'n in mercury by very slow cooling from temperatures above 4500.. Crystals up to 20 x 12 x 1 mm could be obtained by this method* The shape of the crystals depend on the cooling rate. An x-ray structural analysis has shown that the HgTo single crystals have a.struoture of the sphalerits type with a lattice constant a 6.466 + 0.002 As corresponding to that calculated on the basis of data on the tetraadral radii.or the Hg and To atoms* Measurements of the electrio properties. Card 1/2 L,2522-66- AGOESSION NRt AP501458,5 have shown that the decrease in the carrier mobility is slower than in samples obtained by other methods. This is attributed to the high degree of perfection of the structure of the obtained samples. Measurements were also made of the tempera- ture dependences of the conductivity and of the HPA11 constant. Doping the HgTe crystals with silver, copper, and other various impurities makes it possible to obtain p-typs semiconductor crystals. Orig. art. hass 6 figures and I table.
