TEXT: Within the extended nucleus model, the shift of the I s energy level
was calculated by the volume effect. It is shown that the assumption of a sur-
face charge distribution leads to different shifts for.different isotopes of the
same element; the results for this model coincide with those obtained on the as-
sumption of a uniform volume distribution of the charge, for Z = 30 - 40.

ABSTRACT: The authors
discuss laboratory tests performed with a view to the manu-
facture in Rumania of the multigrade ails BAB lOw-30 HD and

The multigrade oils produced in the laboratory
were found to have characteristics similar to those of
.imported oils of the same type, leading to the conclusion
that their manufacture in Rumania Is possible and advantageous#,

ABSTRACT: The authors describe laboratory and pilot tests for the production of
medicinal and cosmetic white oils from paraffin-free naphthenic crude oils by means
of the reformation with fuming sulphuric acid and bleached earth of the oil fraction.
The white oils obtained meet high qualitative standards and are expected to result
in considerable cost reductions. Orig. art. has: 4 tables. [Based on authors,

Following treatment with the extract the urinary excretion of inorganic 1131 in
rats may increase 2-fold. The amount of the increase is related to the amount
of extract injected and the moment of injection. A direct renal mechanism is
assumed, involving primarily an action of vasopressin. Moreover an indirect
action of the extract on thyroid 1131 uptake may be involved. Implications for
treatment with 1131 in humans are discussed.

Abstract :An investigation was made of the variation of the Curie points
as a function of the concentration of noa-magnetic metals at
two fixed ratios of the concentrations of copper and tin,
namely Cu:sn=4 and Cu:Sn=1/2. It was found that the varia-
tion is linear and that the slope of the -lines depends on the
average valence of the non-magnetic metals namely n=1.6 and
respectively n= 3.

ation of carboammoniacate liquid fertilizers in a sezqi-industrial
plant with a production capacity of 3 tons daily. The plant
utilizes the process of simultaneous absorption of mmonia and
carbon dioxide accompanied by chemical reactions in the eutectic
nmmonium nitrate-urea mixture. The absorption apparatus used
ensures absorption efficiency of over 96 percent, and the char-
acteristica of the product are superior to those of liquid fer-
tilizers of the aqueous ammonia or ammoniacate type. Orig. art. has: I figure,

Abstract: It is shown that derivatives of DL-serine can
E-3
serve as initial compounds for the synthesis of
fragments of the C18 chain of sphingosine. The
following derivatives of sphingosine were syn-
thetized: I-ethoxy-2-(N-isoindolinyl)-3-OXY-
octadecane (I) and 1-ethoxy-2-uhthaloylamino-3-
oxyoctadecane (II). The initial oC-phthaloyl-
amino-,6-ethoxypropionic acid (III) was prepared
