and pararickettsial antigens wes positive in 49 out of 60 sera from
patients with chronic bronchitis, emphysema, osthma; histopathologic
studies revealed probable Inclusion bodies in all of 12 cases in the
peribranchavascular connective tissue. in in 4 out of 10 blood specimens,
indicating probable petboSente role. Four photomicrogrophs, 2 Western
and 2 Rumanian references.

Abstract: In a study of viremia in experimental ornithosis
in white mice, t!'--e authors were able to demonstrate
the presence of the virus after 12 hours of inoculation, after
which there was a relative decline. After another 24 hours the
quantity of virus reached a maximum value at which it remained
until the death of the mouse. The viremia was not dependent on
the strain inoculated. The infection initially produced a
moderate leucocytosis with lynphomonocytosis, followed by leuco-
penia with neutrophilia.

in the case of grippal or adenovirus infections, but In the case
of rickettsial or pararickettsial ones does so only when the
specific antibodies are countered by treatment.

Abstract : Treomycin (1), a racemic derivative of chloro-
amphenicol, was prescribed for 127 patients ill
with typhoid fever, dysentery, acute enterocolitis,
and seDticemia. The drug was administered in do-
ses of 100 to 120 mg/kg, in all a total of 6 to
32 g in the course of the treatment. Symptoms of

ABSTRACT: The author emphasizes the significance of the amount
of arsenic present in g soline, -since -
a concentration of 4:19 of this element poisons the
platinum on alumina catalyst. The determining of
arsenic in gasoline necessitates the mineralization
of the organic substance and a dosage method sensible
enough for amounts of 1/1000 gamma of arsenic (gamma=
0.001 mg) in 100 grams of gasoline. A method for
the mineralization of the organic substance based on
the method of Denige's modified by Ioanid and adapted
by the author ZR-ef 1 and Z7 is described. The re-
a'-ents are: sulphuric acid specific gravity 1.84

tion saturated. The determination of arsenic is
based on the method of Gutzeit-Cribier and the re-
commendations of Korenman ZR__ef 42. The author has
adapted the method for increased sensibility. The-
apparatus is described and presented in figure 1.
Analysis of Rumanian gasolines are exemplified.

TITLE- The Raman spectrum in qualitative and quantitative determi-
nation of hydrocarbons

TEXT- The article deals with various applications of Raman spectroscopy
in the study of industrial petroleum and petrochemical processes. Up to
now the Raman effect has not been applied in the petroleum industry to a
great extent. Experiments, however, showed that di-olefins, olefins,
cyclohexanes and benzene derivatives can be evaluated in relatively large
fractions. It is difficult to apply the Raman effect to raw products,
such as crude oil, since the color of these products absorbs the excitation
radiation as well as the Raman lines, and also due to intense fluorescence
and complexity of the substance. Crude oil can, however, produce some
line,s when the layer is thin. Por the analysis)a 5-50-ml sample with a
minimum of 2-3% concentration of the components to be analyzed, is re-
quired. The error of the analysis varies from + I to 5%, in some cases up

TITLE: The ST-3 system of transistorized carrier currents with three
channels

TEXT: The article presents the transistorized three-channel ST-3
carrier current system to be used in open-wire telephone communications.
The ST-3 sys~tem was developed by the "I.A.Tc.11 which produces the R.V.T.
voice repeater and the single-channel ST-1 system in series and which also
developed the 24-channel ST-24 system for cable operation. The ST-3 system
can operate with two or four copper conductors by using a single modulation
and a suppressed-carrier single side-band. The introduction of three addi-
tional telegraph channels was also made possible. The ST-3 voice-frequency
band is 0.3 - 3.4 kc, the difference between the carrier frequencies 4 kc,
the call frequency 2,280 cps, the pilot frequencies 4 and 32 kc, the fr&-
quency range of the system 4 - 32 kc, and the planned band for additional

Abstract The author investigates the lines flux produced by four
linear currents of equal force, located in pairs in two
horizontal planes and comprising "total angles" in these
planes. These angles are projected vertically one on
the other; the direction of the currents in the parallel
sides is opposite. Since the numberical calc-,Llaton of
the Abel integral is difficult, the article is restric-
ted to an investigation of the case, when the total an-
gle, inclvAed between two currents, becoEes equal to zero,
and the force of the current increases to infinity.
A similar configuration of current is called a biac.
