TEXT; The article contains the description and the technical characteris-,:
tics of amplifiers using majorit.-,r carriers in a solid-state body - the tunnel
triodes (TT). The structure of IT and their operating principle are explained.
The 'IT is compared with the usual semiconductor triode and.the electron vacuum
tube. It is pointed out that TT do not require h-f materials with monocrystal
structure. The described devices are, at present, in the stage of laboratory
deve4lopment and investigation.

catalyst. Katapin is a water-soluble dark-brown paste, now being produced on a semi-indus-
trial basis. When large-scale industrial production is organized, katapin production costs will
be close to those of captax, the least expensive vulcanization catalyst. @@'apin is found to

have medium-strength activity as a vulcanization catalyst. Katapin makes possible the produc-
tion of NK-base vulcanizates with higher strength properties than that pr(#Uced by means of the

comes close in vulcanization activity to that of DFG. Katapin may be used as Pn independent

TITLE: Improving Accessories on the Reducing Mill of a Heavy-
Section Mill (Tisovershonstvovaniye armatury obzhimnogo
stana krupnosortnogo tsekha).

ABSTRACT: It was found that when rolling low-number girders,
especially Nr.20 in the reducing stand of a rail-
structural mill the metal often displaced 1',he guides,
leading to stoppages. The authors give details of guide
construction and attachment (Fig.1) and also of special
devices provided before each pass (Fig.2) to support
the beam from below. This is advantageous for rolling
large girders (Nr.30-55) but unreliable for smaller
(Nr.18-16) sizes. For rolling these latter when the
closed passes are in the bottom roll two variants of
guide arrangements have been proposed. In the first
special movable vertical supports are provided for the
Card 1/2 guides, fixed on trapezoidal projections. In the

second a trapezoidal-seetion bar is fixed to the housing
(similar to the guide bars on the finishing line) (Fig.4)
which supports one end of the specially shaped guide, the
otlier being held in the pass with the aid of a load. The
authors favour the second variant and mention its
applicabilities. Its adoption has enabled the load
on the finishing line to be reduced by 20-25%. The new
roll-pass designs used since March 1957 have led to better
roll life, higher productivity and other improvements.
The new accessories are especially useful for thin-walled
sections,and during the year for which they have been In
use no cases of guide displacement have occurred. There

more important sections for mine construction and opera-
tion. The authors illustTate (Fig 1) sections for props

each other (Fig 2). These sections are rolled from
230 x 285 and 245 x 280 mm blooms in four stands arran.ged
in two lines and the authors outline the pass design and
deformations at the various stages. They deal with the
production of inclined props to GOST-5157-53. The authors

ABSTRACT: On the basis of analyses and experiments, an air-conditioning device with
an attachment containing a multistage arrangement of horizontal irrigation layers In
suggested. Analyses covered various types of irrigation attachments and general
requirements for central air-conditioning systems, such as large surface per unit
volume of irrigation layer, high irrigation-layer hollowness and active section, low
aerodynamic drag, adequate structurel strength and durability, and corrosion resist-
ance. Curves representing such characteristic functions of the irrigation system
as aerodynamic drag, irrigation factor, velocity of air approaching the layer, and
Nusselt's and Reynolds criteria, and the experimental arrangement are shown.
Functional correlations of the main criteria show that turbulent conditions.along the
layer improve air cooling and drying processes and therefore lower the required water

discharge. As demonstrated, the suggested arrangement, which uses network layers of
flat caprone filaments is much superior to Annular irrigation headpieces using round
filaments. In comparison with typical spray chambers, the described air conditionin
device has a volume of 57.5Z and requires a surface of 76.5Z and a water discharge of

ratures of the various components of the thermal balance and

The results are drawn up in table form and show c-learly that
the thermal emissien depends only on the temperature of the
diesel's surface. The emission,did not exceed 3% of the te-

Abstract Mixtures of preparations of purified catalase and bac-
terial protease were incubated in a special incubator
which had been contrived to give 14 different tempera-
t-,@xes at the same time. With go-minute incubation at
temperature ranges of 22 - 63 degrees protease produced
a decrease in catalase activity. The obtained results
were considered proof of the fact that proteolytic en-
zymes can regulate the course of oxidizing processes
