ABSTRACT: lAsbricants consisting of graphite and different petroleum product$
are widely used In the production of seanklesqk tubing by hot-deformation methods,
particularly In the continuous rolling mill '@Ith long imandrels an veil an In
power preases. Although theme lubricants are relatively uninvestigated, it in
known that graphite at high temperatures (900-1200*C) loses Its antifriction
properties. Besideav the combustion of the petroleum products In the lubricamts

vitreous type of lubricants, used only for the pressing of tubes from high-all@7
steels, and equally difficult and expensive to fabricate. The techniques of

the author describes tests of nine selected lubricants, Including those recently

developed on the basis of inorganic compounds -- salts of chloride
(Phosphorus - and chlorine - containing lubricants form phosphides and
chlorideo on the contact surfaces and the resulting boundary film prevents
the Int r1ocking of metals, reducing the friction coefficient.) The effective-'
ness of Cie nelected lubricants was tested while rolling tubes in the 18 a
long ma,,Arcl of a continuous nine-high mill with nine individual power drives,
the lubricants being evaluat6d and compared according to the load on the motors
of the principal stands of the mill (6th to 8th) A the sliding r:txf

the other neven lubricants tested, lubricant 7 prove to be the mosFeffective.
The exact composition of this lubricant in not described, but the author
states that it was developed on the basis of "inorganic compounds" and
has a den3ity of 1.65 g/cu cm, bulk weight of 0.98 ton/cu a, melting point
of 850-900*C, and solubility of 64% in vater. This mokelees lubricant

Out of 12 cases treated with X-rays, cure was attained in 4, followed up for 10
months. 1, 0 and 10 yr. respectively. Three patients showed conkiderable im-
provement but could not be followed up for any length of time. In 3 cases X-ray
treatment was linsuccessful, in 2 it was applied postoperatively, and 2 patients
died from pulmunary metastases. The authors believe that in some cases of
honeycomb trabecular type, cure may be achieved while the peculiar roentgenolog-
ical picture remains constant. (XVI. 14)
