TITLE: New catalytic properties of yttrium oxide SOURCE: Kinetika I kataltz, v. 6, no. 4, 1965, 751 TOPIC TAGS: catalysis, @@,U@Impound, hydrogenation, isomerization, ethylene, propylene, acetylene ABSTRACT.- The article presents the results of a series of experiments which point to the sufficiently high catalytic activity of yttrium oxide in hydrogenationit and Isomerization reactions. Hydrocarbons investigated included ethylene,7 propylenej divinyl lacetylene, and 2-methyl-pentene. Temperature-s--va-'Hed fio-m110-320C, the hydrogen/ hydrocarbon ratio from 3:1 to 12:1, the space velo- -1 city from 144 to 576 hr , and the total degree of conversion from 70 to 100%. A necessary condition for the appearance of the catalytic activity of yttrium oxide Is Its activation with hydrogen. A sufficiently conatant activity of the yttrium Card I / 2 L 1681-66 ACCESSION NR: AP5020989 oxide is attained at a given time and activation rate with hydrogen, with a compar- atively small amount of hydrocarbon In the reaction mixture. The work indicates that this catalyst is very subject to poisoning by traces of moisture and oxygen. Orig. art. has: 2 tables ASSOCIATION: Moskovskii gosudarstvennyi universitet im. M. V. The car capacity - 2.65 cu m. In winter time, the ore froze to the body of the cars and a considerable part remained in the car after tilting. In 1954, the acting Chief Mechanic of the mine, A.I. Gunlko, proposed applying a vibrator during the un- loading of the cars. This vibrator weighs 270 kg and is installed on the upper horizontal section of the unloading curves; it causes vibrations with an amplitude of 2.5 am- The experience of its 3 years of use has shown that this device ensures fast and complete unloading of the condens- ed wet ore and ore frozen to the walls. The unloading of Card 112 mine cars is performed now by only one or two workers. Unloading of Wet Ore From Mine Cars 127-58-5-22/30 There are 2 figures. In order to keep the motor capacity of the IOD100 diesel the Game as in the 2D 00, the fatigue strength of the crank- shaft should be increased by rais g the endurance limit of the material to Z9 125-30 kg/mm2, and also by knurlin ecessed chamfers. Besides this, it is necessary to increase the @ear resistance of the sbaft-journal pair in order to reduce the marked formation of steps. The probability of the ionization of the atom in an electric field is estimated from cal- culations employing the usual equation in a one-dimensional field U W = - (Z -.91)2/ 1XI -eFx, where Z is the atomic number and s the shielding constant. In the calcula@Fions, the barrier is appro3amated by a barrier having a straight-line section. The eq@iations obtained give the increase in the ionization probability due to the tunnel Card 1/2 BANGAYTISI VA@ inzh.@ STEETSEVICH Experience in the construction of the Mi-U/A radio relay line in the IntlianS.S.R. Hg on aluminum, glass. mica and NaC1 substrates held at a constant !temperature during vaporization. The rate of deposition was 1 u/min in all cases. Thel @elenium layers were B-10 p in thickness. A "Polmi A" polarization microscope was used for studying the crystallization rocesses in conjunction with a UEKV-100 electron nicroscope. -Polystyrene 1gjcguexAQVas used to separate the selenium layers from the opaque substrate. It was found that crystallization always begins on the substrate side in the given temperature range and is practically Independent of the nature of the@- UDC: 772.93 L 36962-66 ACC NRs AP6016935 fiderlying layer. No crystallization centers are observed in spray coatings applied for'l() inutes to substrates at a temperature below 70') - Dendritic crystals appear at 55' fter 1 hour and at 401 after 15 hours. Layers applied for 10 minutes.at tezreraturens f 70-75' show partial crystallization, while layers produced in the same time at 900 re completely crystallized. Light also has a very strong effect on the rate of rystallization of the selenium layers from the substrate side. An ordinary thermo- tatically controlled electric light (82 w) accelerates the rate of crystallization by factor of 10-50 depending on the aging temperature. It is suggested that higb-tem- erature deposition of selenium layers or heat treatment of layers deposited at lower emperatures may be used to form a double semiconductor-dielectric layer with improved erographic properties. These layers should be stable at room temperature since the ate of crystallization is extremely slow in the perpendicular direction. Orig. art. as: 4 figures. The cold end of the sample was kept 500C above the solidus ten- i wperature. The differential thez I emffs of the melts varied very little with ten- 1perature. The integral thermal eml as a function of composition showed a minimum at 17% ]3i,.(by weight)$ a maximum at 40%, a broad minimum In the region from 70 to 95% and rose steeply (but not'very far),as the composition changed from 99% to 100% Di Thus, in. both the composition regions in which volid: solutions can.be formed,. the i------ thermal em:t of the melt decreaaed@wlth increasing concentration of'the solute. It A is sugges 'ted 'that the increase in thet thermal ent in gdii4- from i7% to 30% Di "I be due to the.-influence of,the phase as an, admixture. The possibility that. No peculiarities of the thermal oaf as a function of composition were observed In the neighborhood of the outectio point. Alloy specimens were obtained from 000-grade indfim and 99.992-pure bismuth. The thermoelectric pover was determined in argon atmosphere in relation to an alumel electrode with a te;nperatyre gradient of about 50C. On the basis of the obtained data the curves of compositi@m dependence of the differential thermoelectric power for indium-@bismuth alloys were plotted (see Fig. 1). It is csUtbl ished that for most of these metals absolute thermo-c. m. f. is independent of tempo- raturc (in the 200-8000C range). Mieso findings were used to construct the thermoelectric series of the molten metals at the temperature T m, + 100OC: Sb, Zn, Cd, Sn, Ga, Bi, Pb, wiLh the corresponding series for these metals in Mid state being: Sb, Cd, Zn, Pb, Sn, Bi. It is worth noting that the difference in the variation in thormo-e. m. f. between the extromo members of tho series for the solid metals is -120 11v/deg whereas for the molten metals it is -10 pv/dcg. This fact appears to indicate that, when in molten state, the metals differ from cach other much less than when in solid state.
