The presence of leptoopiromis In the region was demonstrated In 1954, but the
disease probably existed there since 1951. Apart from 2 epidemics (together 106
cases) the spread was a sporadic one, the frequency being higher In summer.
Most cases concerned the farming population. In the beginning especially Juveniles.
later also adults. Of the Isolated strains 44% were I- pomona 390, 18%L.Cameola.
15% L. proga. 2% L. icterohasmorrhaeae, 1% L. grippotyphosa. The 2 epidemics
are separately described. They were preceded by epizoottes among pigs. howees.
dogs and rats. Transmission occurred by means of water of infected rivers and
pools, the soll, and sometimes by Immediate contact. Nidudvary - C7.uj

TITLE: Telemotry of the Apparent Power by Means of the Hall Pickup
PERIODICAL: lzmeritellnaya tekhnika, 1,0600 No. 12, PP- 30-31
TEXT: The authors worked out an instrucent,.based on utilizing the Hall
effect, for measuring the apparent power of transformer atitiont and its
telemetry. The active as well as the apparent por3r can be measured by
means of a pickup. The possible sources of errors of this method are
investigated next, the voltage being a parameter which changes little.
Systematic errors may develop because of the e=Al which is inducted In the
c'-ain of the Hall contacts by the alternating electromagnetic field, and
because of a different potential of the Eall electrodes. Both errors may
ba -reduced by constr-uctive --oasures. The deFenlence of the Hall constant
on the temperature is described as being a seccn.1 source of error. The
initial vol'.a.-e of the Hall pickup is of the order of 102 mv. The cemplete
=easuring arrangement is shown in Fig. 1. %'F-.:ryes for the change of the

PERIODICAL: Nauchnyye doklady vyoshey shkoly. Elektromekhanika i
avtomatika, 1950, Mr 5, pp 161-169 (USSR)
ABSTRACTs In the introduction the advantages offered by direct-current
aerioe-wound motors are pointed out. The fact that magnetic
flux depends on load is generally looked upon an a disadvantage.
If the operating winding of a direct-current series-wound motor
is fed by way of a rectifier bridge (Pig 1), the motor enjoys
all the advantages arising from the dependence of sagnetic flux
on the armature current. By the starting of ordinary motors of
thiu construction magnetic flux fluctuates between two values
which depend on the moved masses, the degree of excitation,
Card 1/3 etc. If such a rectifier bridre is provided in the exciter cir-

The Electromechanical Properties of Direct Current Notorn In the Case of

cuit of direct-current series motors, magnetic flux depends ex-
ponentially on time (Fig 2). A formula is then developed for
the magnetic flux at starting, and herefrom the formulas for the
Increase of the turning moment is derived. In two tables the
results obtained for a motor in the casea of two kinds of work-
ing conditions are given. The advantages offered by this new
scheme In the case of dynamical braking are briefly described,
and also the variation of the direction of rotation to dealt
with in short (Table )). If the machine In diBconnected from
the mains for short periods, so that, after it iu re-connected,
the generated electromotive force, due to the rotation of the
armature and to magnetic flux, is greater than the mains vol-
tage, recuperation occurs (Fig 3). In this jase the armature
current is reversed. This mode of operation in invectigated in
detail (Figs 4,5,6,7). This newly developed scheme renderu it
possible to improve the characteristic, to automatize tratiel-
tion to recuperative operation, and to eimplify operation
(Fig 8). There aro 7 figures, 3 tables, and 3 Soviet referenzes.
