and synthetic non-brrnche d c'+ 1,4-polyisoprene. Their molecular weight
was 900,00)0 and 250,000 , respectively. The polyisoprenes were both
purified by precipitation fro a benzene solution. Then they were dissolved
in decaline ind hydrogenated I electrolytic hydrogen (80 - 100 atm) with

temperature, duration of hydro enation, and rubber-to-catalyst ratio (C)
were varied, for synthetic cis 1,4-isoprene, temperature, C, and con-
centration of solution were va ied and the depth of hydrogenation was
determined in each case, It w s dependent on the viscosity of the
solution, i. e., on the molecu ar weight of the polyisoprene. Hydrogenation

burn out frequently; in view cf the mass of torches in industry the total
waste of electric power is higl. Engineer A.M. Fedotov has designed the
described simple and handy torch that can work with a storage battery with-
out a reducing transformer, is extremely handy for soldering microwires and
permits silver soldering. It is switched on and heated just prior to solder-

current is needed for the feed and heating. The torch is fitted with a set
