TITLE: Effect of extrusion on variation in the water and sand
concentrations in plastic ceramic masses
PERIODICAL: Referativnyy zhurnal. Khimiya, no. 22, 1962, 352, abstract

summaries in Rus6. and Eng.1)
TEXT; EXnE-riments were conducted in the extrusion of plastic masses made,
of Supreme type kaolin and ball clay, and also of a mixture of ball clay
and quartz sand. It was found that in Vhe course of extrusion the water
and sun(! ccncentrations of these masses changed. A number of measurements
-t;ere made to show the statistical equilibriiim of the water concentration
as a function of the extrusion pressure. Analysis of the water and sand
distributicn in these masses was used to determine -the diffusion
00efficients and to find their relationship with the bending strength in
the dry state. The author remarks that the results of this work may assist
in explaining the reasons for the uneven distribution of water in ceramic
masses. FAbstracter's note: Complete translation.1

The transfusion of red cells coated with bacterial extracts produced shock in
guinea-pigs with natural homologous antibodies, whereas those without such anti-
00
body remained symptomless in most cases. After these injections both the homo-
logous antibody and the antibodies against other bacteria disappeared for 7-10
days and a few days later reached values higher than observed before the experi-
ment. During the period of decreased antibody titre the animals displayed no pa-
thological symptoms when they received a second transfusion of coated erythro-
cytes 1. v. injection of a bacterial extract caused the disappearance both of homo-
logous and heterologous antibodies and prevented the shock following the injection
of coated red cells. SurjAn - Budapest (IV, 5)
