The absorption of P31-labelled dog-serum alburnip injected in the hind paws of dogs
was studied before a 700 r. total body X-irradiation and 3 and 11 days after it. The
rate of appearance and disappearance of the labelled compound from theplasmawas
measured for 52 hr. after the injection. No signi icant differences between irradiat-

Abstract: [Authors' Hun-yarian summary] In dogs, the minute volume decreased
essentially in proportion with the blood. pressure, during ischemic shock.
The coronary flow has decreased as well, although to a somewhat smaller
extent. The supply of the coronaries has not been altered significantly.
On the administration of noradrenalin, the arterial-pressure became normal,
the minute volume, however, did not increase appreciably. The increase in
pressure was due to an increase of the peripheral resistance. The supply of
the coronaries decreased rather than the opposite. In accordance with this,
the coronary flow was raised above that of the control values and the co-
ronary fraction of the minute volmae has shown a large increase. 37 Western,

mental blocking of the extrahepatic bile ducts or dogs, the blood
volume circulating through the liver was decreased -reatly. The pheno-
menon is explained by the increase of intrahepatic pressure as a result
of biliary stasis. This explanation is suPPorted by the observation
'that after blocking the bile ducts, the pressure in the portal vein
increases significantly. The BSP excretion of the liver did not di-

by noradrenalin infusion in dogs. 0.5 mg/kg P~enoxybenzamine has a definitely
protective effect. Half of the animals survive the shock. Large doses of
prednisolone have neither a therapeutic nor a protective effect on noradrenalin
or adrenalin shock; they rather decrease the survival rate of the animals by
about half and they also increase the pressor and hemoconcentration-increasing
effect of noradrenalin. It appears unlikely that the protective or therapeutic
effect of corticosteroids, as reported, on shock would be based on the

Abstract: (Author's En~-lish summary modified] The reproductive data of a
hi7hly productive lairy farm, was studipd. It was found that, in spite of
the hii!h milk yield (4809-5159 k~;/ypar/cow) by the 300 cows over several
years' duration, the averar,p yearly calving ratio was 85 per cent, an ac-
ceptable fit,ure. In daily milk yield between the first and last calving
and the avera,,-!.e time interval between two calvings there was an r=40.23
correlation and a rev 'ression of 4.51 day/ I kv milk. Although the correla-
tion was low, it indicates that by increasing the milk production an ex-
tension of the calvin-- interval must be reckoned with. The calving interval
of 10 cows with record milk production was 18.5 days longer than the average
of the stock. From the breeding aspect, record-producing cows which are
breedin1g, regularly should be preferred. In highly productive cows, reliable

Abstract, [Authors' German summary] The properties of the clearing factor
present, without previous heparin treatment, in the ser= of various spe-
cies has been investigated. Investigations of substrate specificity, pH
and temperature dependence, albumin requirement as well as enzyme stability
have sh(TAm that the enzyme activity present in the serum exhibits, with
the exception of stability, the same properties as the lipoprotein lipase
present in the serum after heparin administration. Because of the lability
of the enzyme, full activity of the "endogeneous" lipoprotein lipase caa
be measured only for a very short time after the blood is drawn. This la-
bility taken into account, a method has been developed for the measurement
of endogeneous lipoprotein lipase activity and comparative studies have

ABSTRACT: The lipoprotein lipase activity of human plasma was investigated in
connection with the clotting system. In citrated plasma the onset of coagulation
leads to appearance of lipoprotein lipase activity, regardless of whether clotting
is caused by recalcification, addition of thromboplastin or thrombin. When
thromboplastin is added, lipoprotein lipase activity appears in the citrated plasm)
in contrast to hirudinized plasma. Enzyme activity decreases with increasing
thromboplastin concentration. By contrast, thrombin causes an increase of lipoprotein
lipase activity both in citrated plasma and at a certain thrombin:hirudin ratio in
hirudinized plasma samples. In isolated fibrinogen-thrombin systems a factor
appeared which, when added to plasma, brought about an increase of lipoprotein
