AW3TRACT: The perfusion pump designed by Sewell and Glenn has been modified by the
authors. In its modified form, all parts of the pump in contact with the blood are
made of a low-density polyethylene. The valves are intraluminal, pocketed valves

Abstract: The general equation giving the equilibrium liquid-vapor isobars for
2-component systems is deduced: 1 - YIYX 2 - x/x")Y2/'Yj,
where x and y are the mole fractions of the first component in the
liquid and in the vapor, respectively; ~'l andY2 are the activity co-
efficients of the first and second component, respectively; p is the
pressure; and A and x are the constants of the Kireyev equation.
The values for Yl and 'r2 are calculated from the equations of van Laer
and Margules. Two methods for solving the equations for y by graphic

Abstract: A formula is deduced permitting the calculation of the vapor composi-
tion of equilibrated 2-component liquid vapor systems at constant
pressure. The equilibrium liquid-vapor isobar for the ethyl acetate-
water system has been calculated. The curve obtained by graphic
methods is in good agreement with the calculated curve.

Dimethyltryptamine (1) has been shown to have a psychotic effect. The symptoms
appear in 3 -5 min. after the'i. m. injection and subside within one hour. By paper
chromatographic and colorimetric methods the excretion of 1. 3-indole-~ acetic acid
(3-IAA) and 5-hydroxy-3-IAA (5-HIA-4) in the urine wasstu,died. After 0.7-1.1 mg./
kg. of 1, no unchanged material could be discovered7, 2-4 times more than normal-
ly of 5-HIAA was found, about 8% iNas excreted as 3-IAA, but alkali treatment of
