Abstract: [Author's German summary] The author presents a short summary of
the literature on primary tumors in the liver of children and, in addition
to 129 cases of liver carcinoma found in the literature, reports three cases
of twror of the liver observed by himself. Two of these have been diagnosed
as carcinoma hepatocellularis, the third case was found to be a benign hepa-
toma. The patient with the benign tumor is free of symptoms and complaints
3 1/2 years after the operation. The author calls attention to the surgical
technique where the large segment and lobe of the liver is resected after
the tying off of the large vessels and bile ducts. In suitable cases, this
very serious operation is recommended by the author as the only means of
prolonging the life of the patient to an appreciable degree. 54 Western,
