"An Interesting Complication of Femoral Arteriography."
Budape~;t, Magy2r Radiologia, Vol XV, No 3, June 63, pages 152-155.
Abstract: (Authors' English summary modified] A case ol' epithelial necrosis
of the abdominal wall is described which appeared after femoral percutaneous
angiography And was the result of a well-delineated circulatory disturbance,
which was attributed to the embolization of the superficial epigastric artery
by the authors. It is thought that the emboly was caused by a blood clot ad-
herent to a calcium or calcified plaque in the wall of the vessel which came
loose at the time of the injection. 8 Western, 2 Hungarian references.

IlEffect of Magnesium on Blood-Clotting of Rats Maintained on a Diet Rich In
Saturated Fats (Butter)"
Budapest, Kiserletes Orvostudomany, Vol 18, No 6, 1966; pp 645-648-
Abstract-. Diets of different composition, all containing 40% butter, accelerated
the Clotting of blood in rats. The Clotting time was decreased by about )0-5q-,
and the -orothronbin time, too, was decreased by about 25%. Through s:Lmultaneous
oral, aw'd-nistration * of five times the daily magnesium requirement the
hypercoagulability state could be completely eliminated. 31 References, all

"Extension Attachment with Friction-Free Bearings."
Budapest, Magyar Traumatologia, Orthopaedia es Helyreallito Sebeszet,
Vol IX, No 3, Jul 66, pages 23)-234.
Abstract: [Author's English summar~y modified] The extension attachment
with friction-free bearings, constructed according to the instructions
of the author, prevents the rotation of the extension wire in the bone.
It can be used with good results in active, directed motion therapy.
Loosening or slipping of the wire was not observed with this apparatus.
The stirrup is moved on the bearing thus insuring a smooth sliding of
the movements. 1 Hungarian, 2 Western references.

Abstract; [English article, authors' Erk7,lish summary] Two strains of Saccharo-
myces cerevisiae, used in alcoholic fermentation, have been adapted to for-
malln, active chlorine, catylpyridinium and sodium pentachloro-phenolate.
Adaptation was started at low concentrations of the disinfectants. The in-
crease in resistance obtained through adaptation was three-fold to foritalin,
ten-fold to chlorine, three-fold to cetylpyridinium and five-fold to sodium
pentachloro-phenolate. Control examinations indicated that the adapted
yeasts wpre able to ferment at disinfectant concentrations which destroyed
the unadapted strains. A prolonged initial delay in the reaction was observed
iia media containing disinfectants; the fermentation rate in the logarithmic
phase, the final alcohol and yeast production and the residual sttgar content,
however, were similar to t1-ose found in the control medium. 6 Eastern Euro-

Abstract: [Author's English summary modified] The humidity content of the
air in stables id-th flat or Dutch roofi-nr:. is independent of the outdoor
varLations of humidity. Outdoor humidity influences the air of the stables
onl,lr during and shortly after vigorous ventillation. This observation is
confirmed by statistical calculation. Physiolo.t?ical relative humidity, satu-
a
ration deficiency, physiological saturation deficiency and equivalent temp r-
ature have no practical value in the comparative evaluation of different
stable types. No references.

Abstract: Intensively bred species not only carrj the genetic possibilities
of high quality in their offspring, but have also more specific environ-
mertal requirements. This is described in detail as stress-sensitivity.
Small farms can consider the requirements of the animals mo---,-e individually,
but large animal f-arms must build stables which are best suited to the par-
ticular breed. Unless environmental requirements are met rigidly, less ae-
mandin- s-oecies should be selected for breedLna. This article is mainly
concerned with the large white swine, bred for m-eat in Hungary. No references.

"The Effect of Different Bedding Materials on the Ylicro-Climate of Chiek
Nurseries.
Budaepst, Magyar Allatorvosok Lapja, Vol 21, No 3, Mar 66, pages 106-112.
Abstract: [Authors' English summary modified] The effect of different
bedding materials on the micro-climate of chick nurseries and the results
of raising broilers were studied in 6 groups of New hampshire chicks
which were kept under identical conditions with the exception of the
material used for bedding. The following materials were used for bedding
in 7-10 cm. layers: peat bran, corn cob (not pounded), shavings, corn stalk
chaff (4-5 cm), pounded corn cob,(1-2 cm), chopped straw (3-4 cm). Their
effect on the micro-climate was largely identical. Ammonia formation was
pronounced after the 8th week and its level was highest in case of the corn
cob. Peat and shavings bedding was favorable to vitamin B12 fOlvation.
With the exedption of pounded corn cob, none of the other materials vas a
direct cause of death. Peat and shaving provided the best living and scraping
conditions; weight gain and feed utilization were best under these cases.
Th-~se are recommended for large-scale chicken raising. 2 Hungarian, 8 Western
