Report on a fatal case of phacochromocytomaof the right adrenal gland during preg-
nancy. Although the typical symptoms (marked lassitude. tingling hands, marked
tachycardia, headache, swelling of the neck, nausea, dizziness, pallor, hyper-
hidrosis) had existed for 2 yr., and although the woman had been repeatedly exa-
mined, no corrcet diagnosis was made. The diagnosis was established because of
a typical attack ~occurring after parturition. The diagnosis was confirmed by post-
mortem findings. The adrenaline concentration in the tumour was 3 10 ;1g./g. Ex-
perimental administration of the extract to cats immediately caused an increase
in blood pressure. During pregnancy, there are difficulties in differential diagno-
sis from toxaemia or eclampsia. Timely diagnosis could have saved this patient,
as the contralateral adrenal gland was Intact. Heiss Graz (X,6*)

Abstract: (Authors' English summary modified] Daterminatim of SGOT
activity have been carried out on.women suffering from carcinoma be-
"ore treatment, after surgery and on cases in an incurable stage.as
well as on patients with benign tumors. The majority of untreated.
cancer cases showed a high SGOT activity. No straight correlation
between the extent of the disease and the degree of enzyme activity
could be found alMdiugh the highest values were found among the in-
curable, extremely progressive cases. No characteristic increase of
enzyme activity was observed in the course of radiation treatment.

Abstract: The authors describe the case of a 30-year-old woman
IV i th- Addison disease who has been treated surgically. The pre-
parations prior to surgery, the anesthetic procedures, and post-opera-
tive operations were discussed. These procedures were planned with
the patients debilitated condition, caused by preliminary treatmentY
in mind. Cortisone is effective in combating surgical stress in hyp-
adreniac. patients; in addition, the administration of vitamin-C and
broad-spectrum antibiotics at appropriate stages of the therapy is
also recommended. 16 references, including 7 Hungarian, 1 German, and
8 Western.

The examination of the blood coagulation in 286 cases of uterine carcinoma re-
vealed that in 231 cases hypoprothrombinaemia was present, however, closer
examination revealed that in 13 of these cases not the prothrombin but factor V
was decreased.' These cases of 'parahaemophilia' showed a mild form of haemo-

HAR (heacrin) represents the mixture of plasma protein thermostable accelerator,
of pi-mucoitin-sulphuric acid ester and of amino-ethyl-imidazole. HAH is adminis-
tered intra- or subcutaneously in fractionated (loses (indi%idual doses change
relatively to patient's arterial tension and general action). HAH was given in 389
cases as a vasodilating agent. Among these were cases of inflammatory character
(endangiftis obliterans, thrombophlebitis) 145; cases of degenerative type (angio-
sclerosis) 82; cases of vascular dystonia (neurods visomotorica, digitus mortuus,
Raynaud's disease) 30; patients with post-thrombotic or post-embolic symptoms
126 and cases of Volkmann's contracture 6. The treatment with HAH resulted in
clinical recovery in 300 cases, improvement in 81, and no improvement in 8 cases.
HAH decreases the arterial hypertension (often to normal values) pd has a benefic-
ial influence upon post-apoplectic disturbances. The recovery or improvement was
evaluated not only by anamnesis and physical examinations but also by aid of the
oscillometer and of myotonometer and myograph, both invented by Szirmai.

By means of SzIrmai's myotonometer, the tone and contraction of the mastication
muscles were determined in 100 human subjects. The method has d;agnostic
value In stomatology. dental prosthesis and orthodontics, and also permits the
diagnosis of atrophy of the mastication muscles, of habitual mandibular luxation,
and of some inflammatory diseases such as parotitis which gives rise to increased

The author reports that in various diseases, pain can be alleviated particularly by
improvement of the peripheral circulation. Results are lasting. The author had
had success with a medicine of his own manufacture, Ileacrin (H.A.H.), which he
gives i.c., with effectiveness inversely proportional to the dosage. Results were
registered with a inyograph and a myotonometer of the author's own construction.
