Abstract: The diffusion constant in iron at 200 was determined from the
liberation rate (LE) of H2 from Fe wire, which had been pre-
liminarily saturated with hydrogen by cathode polarization in
1 n. H2SO4 + A6203' LR was determined volumetrically) Fe being
imaersed in water. Two stages of desorption from Fe with
DI = 5.0 - 10-7 and DII = 0.6 . 1o!9 sq.cm, per see were revealed.
DI and DII computed from the time necessary for the maximum
stationary elongation of the Fe wire at the cathod polarization
in 1 n. 112S04 + AspO3 (M-Rhim, 1955, 31330) are magnitudes of

On Giv basis of the usual formulae for losses In Induction motors.
the author arrives, according to a given duty cycle, at certain
simplified formul" for Jones in Inductlon type hoisting motors and
gives speed diagrams of the hoist. The author deals with the
elementary principles which govern the performance of induction
motors operatling with resistances In the rotor circuit during starting
and braking by means of counter-current. The rating of the hoistiniz
motor Is determined. and checked according to the average losses
of the motor. A numerical example Is given to Illustrate the-
thecrellcal ccnsideration3 In the arelcle.

T'_E'7T_: A method is presented which enables to 'Lind the optimum con-
trol -i"unction provided its optimal conditions are predetermined. A

cyna-mic system can be generally described by A non-linear differen-
tial equation of arbitrarily high order. The method is illustrated
by the example of a motor-generator system to dr~ive an elevator.
.-e control-led system is described by a non-linear differential
ecuation of the third order and all possible nonlinearities such as
Saturation, hysteresis, and dry friction are accounted for. The
