at pH - 3.5. The Ga wave sinks in proportion to the rise

pH :: 5.35 to 6.35, but sinks again at pH above 6.35. 1',
is recommended to detenaine Ga in ores on a K111 background
at pH = 5.35 to 6.35. 1"he determination is possiblq at Ga
contents of 1/-'0' and more. Al does not interfere with the de-
termination, Zn does.

Previous experiments to prove that blood serum and various secretions of men-
struating women contain some sort of toxic substance were all performed either
on plants or on isolated organs of experimental animals. The results were somewhat
contradictory. Blood serum, urine and sweat during menstruation contain 80 to
100 times as much choline as in the intermenstrual periods (Sieburg and Platschke).
In this experiment several hundred tadpoles were placed in groups of 25 in vessels
containing 1,000 ml or water to which 50, 10 and 5 ml of urine of menstruating
women, respectively, were added. All the tadpoles died within a few days, depending
on the quantity of urine added to the water. On addition of 2 ml of urine the tadpoles
usually died within two days. Of control animals treated with interimenstrual urine,
even after three weeks only 25% had died. These results would suggest that menstrual
urine contains some toxic substanceY but it is not certain what this substance
actually is.

Abstract; [Authors' Hungarian summary modified] The effect of methylestreno-
loneTOrgasteron), allyloestrenol (Gestanon),lynestrenol (Orgametril) and
norandrostenolone propionate (Durabolin) has been tested on the hormonal ex-
cretion of 39 patients in early pregnancyand the histochemical changes in
the trophoblast were examined after the interruption of the pregInancy.All
four no~steroids increased the hormone excretion of the placenta but the in-
tensity and,quality of their effect varied greatly. HGG excretion was great-
ly increased by Orgasteron, pregnandiol and estriol excretion was increased
be Gestanon. A moderate decrease in the 17 ketosteroid and 17 hydroxy-keto-
steroid excretion was caused by all four compounds tested, with Durabolin
havina the sinallest effect. With the exception of the Durabolin treatment,
the histochemical examination of the trophoblast showed such signs of hy-
peractivity, which explain the increase of hormone excretion and production

ventricle ofthe heart ofrabbits. Next, blood from the lower extremities was tapped

healthy aninials. INIctastases in the muscles developed far more often in tile first
series as a result of the massive inundation of the arterial system with tumour cells
than in case of intratesticular transplantation of the Brown-Pearcc tumour. Meta-
stases in different organs were found in the 2nd series, ;ndicating that tumour cells
can by-pass the skeletal muscles biologicallywithout affecting them. Here, however,

Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summary] Based on a literature survey and 7
cases observed, the experiences gained in the course of the cytostatic therapy
of malignant ovarian tumors are reported. The therapeutic principles (surgery
and irradiation) used by the authors are described in detail, followed by a
discussion concerning the particular phase in which cytostatic treatmeni is
administered as well as the method and amount used. According to the authors'
views, cytostatic therapy should be used in every case. Although sufficient
time has not yet elapsed for the final evaluation of the good results achieved
in the cases discussed, it is the opinion of the authors that the therapeutic
approach advocated by them is convincingly justified by the absence of symp-
toms and complaints in 5 patients, especially the incurable cases which had
become suitable for radical surgery as well as those cases in which re-

Studies made up to the present an the structure for-
mation - ! collagen gels established that the formation does
not depend only on the electric double layer and on the
action of forces ia(luenced'by the electric load affecting
sal particles. Now points of view must also be considered.

this question. coagulation experiments were carried out
with nonclectralytes having various (ficlectric, constants.
A close correlation was found between the flocculating
capacity and the dielectric constant. Only nonclectrolytes
having a dielectric constant below 35 proved effective.
Dielectric properties are significant from the oint of view
of the formation of structures as well, ror tte formation
of collagen gels with a fibrous structure, the lower the
dielectric constant the lower the. concentration of tho
flocculating agent should be. In case of dielectric constants

indcrentlent of dielectric properties. Experimental data
confirm, that not only the properties of the dtsfx:r3c filase
