ABSTRACT: The effect of certain compounds known to block glucose metabolism on
dextran anaphylactoid inflammation has been investigated. Malonic acid, maleic acid,
arsenate and fluoride inhibited the development of dextran edema great3,v when
administered in non-toxic doses. The inhibitory effect of malonic acid[could be
suspended with fumaric acid and succinic acid. These metabolic poisondPblock.
intensively the edema-enhancing action of insulin. The potential role played by
the inhibition of glucose metabolism, in the antiphlogistic effect, is discussed.

Abstract-l~uthors' Hungarian summary] The resorption, excretion, distribu-
tion of C _labelled Vincamin in the organism and its binding to the blood
proteins have been studied. The compound is resorbed extremely rapidly from
the gastrointestinal tract of rats, and it appears in the organs in large
amounts and in an unchanged form within a short time. Its distribution is
nearly uniform throughout the organism. Its excretion through the urine
is extensive and Vincamin itself as well as its decomposition products of
unknown structure are excreted. 4 Eastern European, 8 Western references.

The author has treated papillomatosis of the larynx in children by repeated remova
of the growths followed by intralaryngeal, submucous injections of an oily oestrogen
preparation into the base of the removed growth. He believes that oestr6gens have
a direct restraining influence on the Papillornatous process in its phase of prolifera-
tion. Of 8o cases of papillomatosis in cfWdren observed during 1946-~56 sixty-eight
were treated by this method. Definite results, after 4 or more years, arc very good.
After 2ooo, intralaryngeal injections of oestrogen hardly any reaction of the Larynx
was noted. In the author's experience, this method of tmatment is very effective -
especially in early cases - and quite safe.
