TITLE: Contributions to the synthesis of binary sequential diagrams
PERIODICAL: Automatica pi electronica, v. 6, no. 5, 1962, 197 - 203
TEXT: Starting with the description of sequential.and combinational dia-
grams, and the application of the analogy betwedn sequences and numbers, the au-
thors first study the importance of the basic elements, i.e., intersection, memo-
ry and inhibition, which permit an ordination on the time axis, and by that a
transfer from the sequential part to the combinational part of the selector-type
diagrams. The authors then describe the method of.synthesis by dynamic memories,
and of synthesis by static memories. In case of the latter they distinguish the
method with a-type connections, the,method with b-type connections, the method
with mixed connections and the method with connections in the combinational part.
Two practical examples of the mixed method are then presented, the first provided
with electromagnetic relays, the second with static transistor relays. The labo-

Contributions to the synthesis of binary AO65/A126
Institutului de Cereeta"ri Electrotehnice (Laboratory of Static Switching of the
Automation and Telemechanics Section within the Electrotechnical Research Insti-
tute) has developed several binary sequential selection diagrams based on the
mentioned synthesis methoda which supplied good results during laboratory tests.
Conclusions: The methods exposed allow a synthesis of mequential diagrams with-
out using the minute diagram of the classic theory given in Ref. 2 (D.A. Huffman:
The synthesis of sequential switching circuits, J. Franklin Inst. 3/4, 1954).
The methods exposed are valid for all electrodynamic and static switching ele-
ments. The authors finally present in two appendices the symbols of basic ele-
ments and a-brief description of the "NOR" function. There are 9 figures and 1
table.
