Extraocular and intraocular factors in regulation of the retinal circulation ACTA PHYSIOL.ACAD.SCIENT. HUNG. (Budapest) 1956, 91suppl. (44-46) A method of biomicroscopy of the retinal vessels is outlined. Stimulation of the preganglionic fibres of the cervical sympathetic in the dog and cat causes a very marked Increase of blood flow through the retina. the increase lasthig as long as the stimulation Is continuedand beinig followed by a relative ischaemia. Circulation of the erythrocytes, however, occurs in only about 30% of the capillaries. By In- jection of a dye ('Geigy blue') the capillary network can be rendered clearly visi- ble and it is then seen that an intensive circulation of fluid is taking place also In the capillaries in which there are no erythrocytes. Thus the retini has a blood and a plasma circulation which are kept constantly balanced. Von Skramlik - Berlin (11, 12) K. IPIU.RjXNS=, K. The method -is based on the observation that, because of their labile temperature regula- tion, white rats react to antipyretic drugs with a significant decrease in their body temperature in every case, without the nued of previous, experi- mpntal development of fever. Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summary modified] A comparison between patients with angina pectoris and a control group of the same age indicated that changes in the cervical vertebrae were more prevalent among, the patients than among the controls. The conclusion was reached that the detailed lo- calization of spondylarthrotic changes and the determination of lesions which may cause irritation in the roots of the cervical nerves of the spine are of utmost importance. In addition to routine X-rays, the performance of X-ray techniques is recommended by which any present limitation to motion as well as the small Joints and the foramina are better observed. The tech- nique is routinely used in the Central Institute of Radiology and Ambulant Service of this hospital. It is possible that the simultaneous occurrence of angina pectoris with cervical spondylosis is not a coincidence, but a sign of mutual interaction, somewhat like in aaarthritis. 9 Hungarian, 16 Western references. 1/1 TOXIC-nROVIC, K.; THURSKT-PSORN, H. Favorable exj)av4L.;,ent-:.L results led to the statement that the gases of a -..artlal methane oxydation should be directly utilizable for tlc synthesis of vinyl chloride M. For this purpose, huwov'~r, an efficient catalyst should be found for dilutod acetylerie (II) as well as a possibility of separating t,c obtaitied (1) from the gas mixturei furtherit should be ascertained whether the unreacted residual mixture can be utilized for the synthesis of ammonia. Already in 1952 - 53, the author Card 113 investigated the influence of CO, CO 21 C'14 and H2 on the Production of Vinyl Chloride From a Gas Mixture SOV/64-59-1-6/24 With a Low Content of Acetylene formation of (1) from 5 - 15 % acetylene gas mixtures in connection. with suggestions made by the Nauchnoissledovatellskiy institut nefti i gaza (Scientific Research Institute of Petroleum and Gas), and made the above aseertainment. The further laboratory experiments were carried out with gus mixtures of the composition 8 % C 2it2, 25 ~- CO, 4 ~- C02' 53 % J121 9 ~ HU and I % of air. The use of a catalyst consisting of charcoal with 10 % HgCl 2 and 20 % Ti02 (Refs 13, 14) showed that already at 1200 a complete conversion of (II) can be obtained, the composition of the inert gas component exerting no influence. A description of the laboratory plant as well as data on the influence of the velocity of gas flow and temperature (Table 1, Figs 1 - 3) are given. Experiments on the duration of effect of the TO 2 catalyst (Table 2, Fig 4) show that it posuesses double the duration of effect of the catalyst with ThCl 4 (Ref 6). Card 2/3 The specific efficiency of the catalyst as a function of the Production of Vinyl Chloride From a Gas Mixture SOV/064-59-1-6/24 With a Low Content of Acetylene velocity of the flow of gases was also investigated (Fig 5)- The isothermal lines of the adsorption of (I) on charcoal of the "Supersorbon" brand, and some other data important for the.separation of (I) were determined (Tables 3, 4:. Fig 6). Tests were carried out in an experimental plant (Fig 7) to check the reproducibility of the laboratory experiments and to establish experimental data on the adsorption separation of (1). The experimental results of the laboratory plant were confirmed, and it was observed that the charcoal must be re6enerated under certain conditions. Budapest, Orvosi Hetilap, Vol 107, ~!o 4L~, 30 Oct 66, pages 2082-2085. Abstract; [Authors' Hungarian summaryl The report includes 4342 patients who underwent cholecystectomy because of the presence of stones. The nur7ical risk has a decreasing tendency and, under favorable conditions, is under 6.8 p-r cent. The surgical risk of those under and over 60 years of ai-!e is compared both with respect to lethality and other complications. In subjects under 50 years of age, without icterus, with complaints of brief duration, the surgical intervention involves low risks; with advancin,7 age, icterus, complaints of long duration, the risks increase rapidly. For this reason, gall bladders which cause repeated, severe complaints, contain stones and are non-function- ing should be removed as early as possible in spite of the possibility that the complaints may subside for longer or briefer periods. 12 Eastern European, 4 Western references. -1 A U, R 7- 0, V.
