A13STRACM: Wire rolling Is an economical process for the production
of narrow belts of exact dimensions with rounded edges, both in
corlbon and in alloy stoola. Tito author suggests construction of
rolling plsnta for this production in Czechoslovakia; the drives
should use DO current motors, nnd provide for a regulation of the
rolling, npoed and of the tonsionn applied to the wire and the
belts* The bolts may be 0.1 to 15 mm wide$ and 0*02 to 4 mm thick,
Factors Infl'iRticing the width of the produced belt are describel;

Tubes, Strip and Ifire from the Austenitic Stainless

PERIODICAL: Hutnicke listy, 1961, No. 4, p. 284
TEXT: The authors solved the problem of forming the
austenitic stainless CrMnNiN type economy steel which can
substitute to a large extent the currently-used type 18/8
CrNi steel, resulting in a very considerable saving of scarce
Ni. The following were produced: welded polished tubes of
10/1 ami dia. and 52/1.2 mm dia; hot-rolled and cold-drawn
electrode wires of 1.20, 3.25 and 11 mm dia; open sections
635/1 nim from hot- and cold-rolled strip and accurate seamless
tubes of 40/1.5 mm dia. Compared with the type 18/8 steel,
the resistance-to-forming of this steel is slightly higher in
the hot state and 20-25% higher in the cold state. This
economy steel is to be used as a substitute for 19/8 steel
whenever possible.

new nitrogen-containing steels than for the nitrogen-free

malleability at the forming temperatures but increases somewhat~

TEXT: Discussion on the necessity for developing a special driving motor for ocean ships on the underwater
decks and description of one of the many possible solutions of the problem. Use of a special gas turbine
with a divided gas consumption for the compression and propulsion turbine and with the ship propeller
rotating around the horizontal axis. This turbine has advantages over airplane and other light ship turbines.
It increases the driving power of the ship propeller by 15-20%. Wide possibilities for steering with this gas
turbine. Its location under sea level gives new possibilities for cooling the propulsion turbine. Some compli-
cation difficulties in the construction of two combustion compartments is the access to the underwater gon-
dola. There are I drawing, I scheme, 6 diagrams, and 2 references.

TEXT: It is proposed to produce the insulating cord of the heavy-
duty radiofrequency cable 25/q.0 as a hollow, sleeve made of poly-
ethylene, 30 to 32 mm outside diameter and 3 nm vial! thickness.
lice sleeve is laid on'to the inner conductor tube-(20 mm ID) to form
a helix with a step of 300 to 400 mm, A -fter inserting the assembly-
of the inner conductor with the sleeve into the outside conductor;
tube (100 mm OD), warm* water under pressure is circulated through
the sleeve. By increasing the pressure of the water the diameter of
the sleeve is increased, producing a tight fit -to both -the inner
and t-,he.outside conductor tubes; the shape of the sleeve remaining
undisturbed by cooling the water. The viater is drained and after
drying the sleeve, gas under excess pressure is fed provisionally

ABSTRACT: The influence of annealing at 6800C. and of the kate of cooling between
680 and 400*C upon the spheroid structure of the carbide component of the pearlite

hours. Longer periods decrease t e spheroid content because coalescence reactions
start taking effect. The period of annealing rather than the rate of cooling determirAm
the extent of spheroid particles formation. Pearlite of NnV-containing steels has-a
dense and fine structurep and is not influenced by the formation of spheroid carbide
particles. The influence of macroscopic occlusions is described. Only limited

PERIODICAL~ Slaboproudy cbzor, 1960, Vol 21, N~ 2, PP 66-72
ABSTRACT; A number of synthetic piezoelectrics have been dev-eloped
since World War 2. The manufacture and the properties of
most of these materials are re-viewed in the article. Tw~:;
tartrates EDT and DKT are employed as piezoelectric
materials. The first tartrate has the follywing formula,
C6Hl4N 206; the formula for DKT is K 2C4H406,-~~ H20, The
monocrystals of these substances crystallize 1.n the
sphenoidiL system. The crystals are illustrated in Fig 1.
In both cases the Z axis is identical w-ith the crystallo-
graphic axis c and the Y axis is identical with b
crystallographic axis. The angle between X axis and
the crystal logra plil c a axis is 15030", for EDT crystals
and onlY 51' for DKT crystals. Optically both crystals
are bi-axial. Various physical and electrical parameLers

can be used in resonant circuits and give a quality
factor up to 30 000~ Lithium sulphate LSH having
the formula Li 2S0020 is also a useful piezoeleciric
material. The crystal of LSH has the form shown in
Fig 3. The physical and theelectrical constants of this 6-
material are indicated in Table 2. Sorbitol hexa-acetate,
SHA having the formula C6H 806 (COCH3)G gives crystals
which are soluble in water. The shape of the crystal is
illustrated in Fig 4 and its piezoelectric coefficients
are indicated in Table 3. This material can also be used
in resonant circuits. Phosphates ADP and KDP ean, be used
in electro-acoustics where Rochelle salt has been
normally employed; the chemical formula of ADP is
NH4H2PO4 while that of KDP is KH 2P04 . Both materials
crystallize in a tetrogonal system (Figs 5 and 6). The
basic properties of these materials are indicated in
Card 2/3 Table 4. The crystals of ADP and KDP do not contain any

"crystallized" water and do not easily dissolve.
Crystals of sodium chlorate and sodium bromate can also
be used as piezoelectric materials. Elastic and
piezoelectric coefficients of these substances are
indicated in Table 5. A comparison of the above
substances is given in Ilable 6 where the third column
indicates the electromechanical coupling coefficient,

TITIE: Influence of the DC electrical field on the resonance frequency of DKT
piezoelectric resonators
SOURCE: Elektrotechnicky casopis, no. 3, 1966, 161-167
TOPIC TAGS: piezoelectric crystal, electric field, direct current
ABSTRACT: Just as in the case of quartz piezoelectric resonators it was observed
with DKT resonators that the DC electrical field influences their resonance frequency*
The temperature dependence of that influence was investigated. From experimental
measurements the components 9241 and g341 of the polarization correction teneor of
the elastic coefficients were calculated for DKT and proved to be m6re than order
larger than the corresponding known components of natural quartz.15This paper was

TEXT: Acoustic high-frequency filters and their properties are considered.;
From the basic acoustic determinations, theoretical ratios vrith respect to the
attenuation of filters with outlets are derived. The attenuation of the individ_~
ual filters.has been experimentally established on the basis of measureffients of 1
the acoustic pressure before and after the filter. The theoretical values are ~A
-compared with the measured ones, and it is established that they agree well with
each other. A correction should be introduced into the ratio for the acoustic
mass of the connecting pipes. From the theoretical ratios derived for one
number of.connecting pipes in the wall, a general ratio valid for an arbitr
