TITLE: Pin tube electromyograph PERIODICAL: -Akademiya nauk Kazakhskoy SSR, Vestnik-, no. 11, 1960, 1o4 - 1o6 _TEXT: The subject myogreii)h has been developed at the Institut krayevoy patQlogii AN KazSSR (Institute of Regional Pathology of the Academy of Sciences of the KazSSR)-because of the absence of modern myographs on the market. The new features in it are the pin tube amplifier for.measurements of biological cur- rents, ar-d-electronic voltage stabilizers (Fig. I and 2). Actually, the amplifier had been designed by V. A. Kozhevnikov and-V. I. Siroko of the Institut fiziologii im. T. P. Pavlova AN SSSR (Institute of Physiology imeni 1. P. Pavlov of the AS US SR) who used the system of..4. M. Andrew and of G. Klein (both of 1955, the names are given in original )~~g**lish and_German) with octal ("oXtal'nyye") base tdbes. in the-new-amplifier these are replaced by pin-type base tubes ("pal'chikovyye"). The tubes are operating from a 110 - 220 v network (can also work from a storage battery). The balanced system permits recording without screening off the room from the common interference sources like electric lighting bulbs, CH 250 (SN250) Card 1/6 x 251T3 S/031/60/OW/011/007/008 Pin tube electromyograph A16l/A133 voltage stabilizer, etc. The amplification factor (from input to electron-ray tube) Is about 1,000,000;- the sensitivity (input-photo film) 10 /-Lv in I mm; the frequency band amplified without frequency and amplitude distortions is I 2000 cycles. The. principle of the system had been described in 1957 by Kozhevnikov and-Siroko, therefore only the new features are mentioned in the article. The four amplifier cascades (Fig. 1) Include 6-H2T1 (6N2P) pin base tubes. Local negative feedback between the I and II cascades could be used in view of the high amplification reserve, and the.zero line drift and the interference level are re- duced to minimum. The total resistance in the cathode of the first cascade tube (negative feedback for symmetrical signals) -is high, due to the , J1 (L5), a 6011 (6K4P) tube used. The amplifier is assembled on a pleyiglas frame ~for it was not possible to -use a metal panel because of interferences), and the frame is fixed on foam rubber dampers. The parts of the amplifier are of standard pattern but carefully selected. The tube anodes are supphed from stabilized rectifiers. Th-e electronic voltage stabilizers (Fig. 2) are-assembled in a combination compensa- tional and parametric system the principle of which had been described In litera- tiire in 1957 by I, G. Gol'dreyer (Russian name) and in 1941 by.E. E. Miller (Eng- ligh apelling) . The reference voltages are removed f rom the c r 2 C (SG23) and 85 A 2 (85A2) 6tabilivolta and fed to the grtds of the left halves of tile J13 and JVJ Card 2/6 Y .. 25173 3/0,31/60/000/011/007/008* Pin tube electromyograph A16i/Ai33 tubes of 6H 9 (6N9) type working as cathode followers. The right halves-of these tubes are amplifying the output voltage from the devider (RI-7., R14, R RI ). 1~y The second cascades are also assembled on 6N9 tubes and are eorking sl~rlllar as cathode follower afid amplif ier (,,7 ' 'q 6). The d7 and # 8 tubes are the servo elements in the system.~ The-rectifieK are of 'the stIndard type, withf7 -shaped filters. The variable component of stabilized voltage on the stabilizer's output does.not.exceed 0.2 mv. The record from the electron-ray tube of 13A 037 (13L037) type is taken by a photo-recorder similar to the Fedorovskiy's recordel~, but., with- a AA r -1 (DAG-1) motor for pulling the film with 80 and 120 mm/tec speed. . t7he commutator of the myograph has a built-in ohmmeter for measuring the resistance between the electrodes applied to the muscle surface,..a voltmeter for watching the supply voltage, an input voltage calJbrator, and two switches. The recording electrodes are made from stannium and lead, 0.5 cm in diameter,, spaced 2 cm; held in plexiglas holders. The grounding electrode is of .standard execution from a cardiograph. The authors express their gratitude to Senior Laboratory worker F. G. Trusov who participated in the development of the myograph. There. are 2 figures. First of all the rural dwellinE differs from other types of dwellings in the spatial disposition of rooms, called for by dist-4ncitve fcatures of the peasant family's modes of life, which are to be a great extent dictated by climate; the dispersed form of settle- rent and the special character ofuork in the country. After idving a wide histori.cal review based on scientific material on the development of rural dwellings the author concludes with the requirements of the conterqjorary rural dwelling existing in the changed political and social conditions of Poland moving towards Socialism. in short the house of a contemporary faz7,er m.-st be planned so that it can fulfil its economic, hygienic, cultural and social functions. In their experiments the We authora chosfnvanadium and boron since these do not have a strong oxidation effect. Based on foreign experience (Refs 5-7) the authors experimented wit stabilising nitrogen in the Czech steel 6SN 11301,1pprimarily by vanadium and also by boron. The experiments were carried out on material from ten heats of three grades of steel of types and compositions as given in Table 1, p 604 (c o.o6-o.13%, Mn 0.23-0-39%, S! 0-01-0-05%, P 0.012-0,028-/0'7 s o.o19-o.o42-,/0, V 0-0.06%, Al 0.010-0.0630.0 and N 0.004-0.0070,L') which were produced in 50- and 130-ton open-hearth furnaces from charges containing 55-60% liquid pig iron. The Cardl/3 tabulated and graphed results of the laboratory experiments 80779 Z/034/6o/ooo/o8/004/030 E07~/Ejaj Deep-drawing Sheet Made of Stabilised Non- ge Steel are discussed in considerable detail. On the basis of the experiments, the authors found that the agoing of LIU--; type of rimming steel can be eliminated by adding 0.03- 0.7% V.. Results of laboratory experiments as well as practical extrusion tests have shown that such V -stabilised rimming steel does not age and has more favourable mechanical properties than equal non-stabilised rimming steel or equal Al-killed steel. Within the limits of the quantities added the V has no influence on the boiling of the steel and therefore the ingots retain a sufficiently thick surface layer of pure metal. The V also has a favourable influence on the character of the crystallisation so that segregation occurs only in the uppermost section of the ingot. It is concluded that Vanadium-stabilised rimming steel is suitable particularly for the manufacture of deep-drawing sheets. It is not possible to single out in Czechoslovakia any one steelworks which should specialize in economic processing and sorting of steels with higher arsenic contents. Also it is not possible to specialize the manufacturing programme of a single plant in such a way that it should be able to process raw materials with an increased content of arsenic, since every Czech steelworks that manufactures products in which a higher content of arsenic is permissible (for instance rails) also manufactures special steels in which even small fractions of a percent of arsenic has a highly unfavourable effect. Extensive experiments led to the conclusion Card 1/4 Z/03't/60/000/012/002/015 E073/E535 Arsenic and Phosphorus in High Alloy Chrome--nickel Steels that for low carbon deep-drawing steels and for constructional carbon and low alloy steels the arsenic content must not exceed 0.030 to 0.040%. This is in good agreement with the Soviet draft specifications published in Standartizatsiya, 1959, No-7. Czech standard specifications neither consider nor permit any arsenic content in steels. although random checks on Czech steels showed that the arsenic in these varied between 0.010 to 0.020%. Earlier experiments on the arsenic content were carried out for two steels by SONP (unpublished report); the arsenic content varied between 0.020 to 0.230%. Primarily, the malleability in the hot state, the hardening ability and the cutting properties of the steel were investigated. Arsenic proved to have little influence except on the tendency to develop cracks during quenching. A specific problem is the presence of arsenic in high alloy chromium and chromium-nickel steels; the economic utilisation of the scrap leads in this case to a gradual increase of the As and P contents. Tnese two elements have a similar influence on the properties of steel. Due to this fact and to the above mentioned economic considerations, the influence of both elements on the properties of high alloy Card 2/4 Z/034/60/000/012/002/015 E073/E535 Arsenic and Phosphorus in High Alloy Chrome-nickel Steels steels was studied simultaneously on the following steels-. a) Ferritic chromium heat-resistant steel ~'SN 17153 - heats containing As and P, respectively. 0.08 to 0.13% C, o.89 to 1.20% Mn, 0.97 to 1.16% si, 0.030 to O~040% P, o.o15 to o.ol6% S... 0.89 to 0.95% Ni, 23.24 to 25.33% Cr, 0.0072 to 0.182% As, 0.11 to 0.13% C, 0.85 to 1.02% Mn, 1.05 to 1.22% Si, 0.030 to 0.109% P, 0.017 to 0.029% S, 0.91 to 1.00% Ni, 24.89 to 25-33% Cr, 0.020 to 0.035% As. -.1 b) Austenitic chromium-nickel anti-corrosion steel CSN 17246 - heat containing As and P, respectively: 0.07 to 0.12% C, 1.76 to 1.93% Mn, 0.90 to 0.96% SI, 0.020 to o.02% P, o.o14 to 0.017% S, 8.56 to 8.95% Ni, 18.94 to 19.42% Cr, 0.37 to 0-50~Ti, 0.013 to 0.197% As; 0.11 to 0.12% C, 1.51 to 1.83% Mn, o.84 t 0 o.96% si, 0.025 to O~117% P, o.o16 to 0.027% S, 8.24 to 8.77% Ni, 18.97 to 19-31% Cr, 0.34 to o.42% Ti., 0.020 to 0.035% As~ Stepped contents of As and P has enabled determining the maxi- mum content of each of these elements, Detailed investigations were made of the following properties: microstructure and physical properties, mechanical properties, properties at elevated Card 3/4 Z/034/6o/ooo/ol2/002/015 E073/E535 Arsenic and Phosphorus in High Alloy Chrome-nickel Steels temperatures (malleability, weldability, corrosion resistance). In the experiments the influence was determined of As between 0.01 and O~2% and also of P between 0.025 and 0.1% on the on the characteristic properties of heat-resistant ferritic chromium steel and stainless austenitic chromium-nickel steel, In the case of ferritic steel the influence of increasing As content from 0.06% manifests itself on the heat resistance, the corrosion resistance and weBability, whilst the influence of P above 0.06% manifests itself on the properties, the weldability and the corrosion resistance. In the case of austenitic steel, an As content above 0.05% leads to a decrease in the impact strength and the corrosion resistance and a P content above 0.05% will also lead to a reduction of the impact strength and the corrosion resis- tance and an increase of the strength, The results give an indication of the maximum As and P contents which can be tolerated in the types of steel investigated, There are 21 figures. 4 tables and 4 references: 1 Soviet and 3 Czech, ASSOCIATION: Vyzkumny ustav hutnictv'3'- 'Z'eleza, Praha (Ferrous Metallurgy Research Institute, Prague) SUBMITTED: August 4, 19b0 Card 4/4 I I ~j-lt~W~D TLUSTA, D. ; M-tUZEK, I,%; K~Ei, A.
