ABSTRACT: In Varna in 1056, the author observed a type of lightning of
which one brrinch ended in a whorl while tl-:e other continued
on the original path of the lightning (see Figuro'). Unable to
account for the phenomenon, he concluded that it must be of
interest. There is one diagram.

Abstract As the result of experivents cinducted in 1952-1953 in
the vine~rards if labor co,)pcratives, the authors have
reached the conclusion that the load of 8-10 eyes per
plant, presently used on the establishments ir. LulCpria,
is insufficient. With the present af_ricultural techni-
que it can be increased on the Dirmynt, Vine-n1m, Reel Mu8-
cat and Mavrud varieties to 24 eyes, nnd --ii the Pa!aid
variety - to 32 eyes per plant both with short mid 13nG
priming. Further increase in the fruit bearint, loakl is
feasible with the impr,Dvement of the aGTicult~~Ql

Title Several Peculiarities in the Fruitbearing of Grape Side-
Shoots.

Abstract A study of the causes of the infertility of (yape side-
shoots showed that the fertility of side-shoots depends
on their strength of development during the course of the
sumer. The poor fecundity of the lower buds of the side-
shoots depends on the polarity of the grape. Trimming
the twigs instead of the low fruit shoots yields better
results# The use of aide-shoots for fruit-bearing makes
it possible to restore the plant more successfully from
whatever damage it might have sustained through frosts
or incorrect trimming.

ABSTRACT: The plane problem of the elasticity theory for a rectan.-ular
range at any load on the rectangle ed.gea with verticall,- acting
stresses and tangential stresses, but without mass forces, was
dealt with in the paper by B, L. Abrazyan (Ref 1). The same
problem is investigated here for the case of any distribution
of mass forces. At first, the setting up of the problem, and
the method of solving the problem, are described, The boundary
conditions are ther. complied vith, and four concomitances of
irfinite systems of linear equations are obtained: (2.7),
(2.8), (2.9) and (2.10). By use of formulas (3.1) and (3.2) from
the paper (Ref 1) for judging the infinite systems, the latter
are investigated. It is shown that concomitance (2.6) is re-

solution if (3,5) is fulfilled, This condition is always ful--
filled if the principal moment of the external forces is equal
to zero. The approximate solutions vjhich exactly fulfil the
boundary conditions (4,1) are obtained, The method described
is applied to an example out forward in the paper~(ief 1). There
are 3 fi.gures and 3 references, 2 of which are Soviet.

ABSTRACT: A new two-lons ironless beta spectrometer has been constructed at tho
Department of Atomic Physics of Sofia University. By means of sovoral correction
coils the instrument attainod a satisfactory intensity i-rith a good resolving pourer
(1.9%). The article gives a brief description of the device and presents its charac-
teristics. The improved resolving power is attainod by 1) an increase in the inlet
angle; 2) a decrease in spherical aberration; and 3) an increase in the coefficient
of chromatic aberration. laxim= energy is 4.,o ReV. This paper was presented by
