SOME CAPILLAROSCOPIC OBSERVATIONS IN LEPHOSi lRussian text) rsutX .1j. A. . Leontev E. V. and HakhHna A.V. Hostovilion- NAUCYL RAB. 110 LLPROL, I DER.M. jkostov-na-Donu) 1956, 7 (221-224) The state of capillaries at the nail bed of the fingers was studied in 70 leprous patients (39 cases of anaesthetic type, 26 cases of tuberculoid and 5 cases of un- differentiated leprosy) before and 1-2 yr. after treatment. In 9 out of 21 cases of moderately severe anaeathetic leprosy an increase in the number of capillaries (40-50 per fields of vision), blurring of their outlines and shortening of the loops were observed. The lumen of capillaries generally narrowed with local tortuosities and dilations. Capillaroscopic improvement accompanied clinical recovery. In 3 Wr cases of tuberculoid leprosy and acrocyanosio the capillaries were dilated and blood flow slowed down. These abnormalities disappeared with treatment. In 3 cases of undifferentiated leprosy with radial and utnar neuritis and contractures and deformities of the fingers, capillaroscopy showed narrow and pale capillary loops in small numbers (20-25 per field of vision). Two ~ ears of treatment pro- duced in those cases some clinical Improvement but did not alter the canillaro- scopic picture. For the p-arpose of checking these theoretical assumption, experiments were carried out. The induction period of the thermal oxidation of polypropylene was determined in the presence of various inhibitors of the oxidation (phenolderivatives and aromatic amines). As an example, Fig. 3 shows the course taken by this reaction at Card 2/4 The Dependence'of the Induction' Period of S/020/61/136/003/022/027 the Oxidation on the Concentration of the B004/BO56 Antioxidant po 300 mm Hg; 190, 200,,and 2100C in the presence of the antioxidant A: 2.4 4: OR OR (CH 3 3CrCHT-[~-C(CH3)3 H3 If 3 The induction periodVis represented as a function of the concentration x of the inhibitor. For high values of x J~steep sections in Fig. 3), an activation energy of about 40,000 kca mole is calculated, which corresponds to the activation energies for he oxidation of hydrocarbons. The effectiveness of various oxidation inhibitors ma,,- be compared on the basis of k.
